I got 2 guinea pigs on thursday and today is the first day i've got them out the cage to handle/play with them. up until now we've pretty much left them alone to settle in.

i am now quite concerned that while watching them one is constantly mounting the other one - i specifically asked for 2 boys, do you think i have been sold one of each?or is this normal boy behaviour at being excited and having a run around?

if they are boy & girl is it likely she will already be pregnant?

oh lord,i was dreading this, this is the first time round as piggy owners for us,and i haven't a clue about special diets etc for preg females - help!

It's possible it is just hormones. But if you are now unsure of the sex i would say separate them as a caution and get them sexed by someone who can tell you 100% for sure what sex they are.

It is very possible if they are a boy and girl she may be pregnant. Only time will tell if that is the case.

DD said it exactly right. It could also be that they're in a strange environment so they're establishing the pecking order. I would definitely sex them to be sure though, or have somebody experienced sex them for you.

my 2 boars did this constantly nothing to worry about they are still babies at the moment, they are just gaining dominance!

Unless they are boy and girl. :) They will both be sexually mature therefore able to reproduce.
Even though i'm more then capable of sexing GP's when me girls started this i checked them about 3 times because i thought i kept getting it wrong! Luckly for me it was just hormones. If in doubt, check them out! Cool, that rhymed. ;D

I agree with Kelly. Is there anyway you can flip them over and take pigtures? That way we may be of some assistance.
