I've come home from work tonight and checked on my piggies as i always do and saw blood on 1 of my females nose and face so i looked at them all to find the one with blood on her face was bleeding from her vagina. This is the first time i have had piggies and i am really worried that she is ill. she is still eating and drinking and is still full of beans can anyone give me any advice please? she was trying to hump her sister and mother earlier in the week so is she having her first season or is it something more serious? PLEASE HELP ME I AM VERY WORRIED AND UNFORTUNATELY I DONT HAVE ANY MONEY UNTIL NEXT WEEK TO TAKE HER TO THE VETS 8...

Call a vet and ask them for advice...... maybe they'll let you do a pay system ?
Put her on a clean white cloth/towel and feed her some wet veg if her wee is pink it's more than likely a UTI ........you could then pass on this info to the vets.
Guinea pigs don't bleed when on heat.
Best of luck with your little girl XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Guinea pigs usually don't bleed when in season.

Any serious and repeated bleeding is either down to a urinary tract infection (UTI), bladder stones (usually not in babies), gut or womb infection. And it needs to be investigated.

Maybe phone the vets for advice and explain the situation and they might be able to help. I have sows and they do not bleed when in season so I think asking the vets would definetly help.

update

Hi all just want to give * an update on my little girl, she is still eating well, drinking when she wants to but i have increased her wet veg intake so she is getting fluid that way. my hubby took her out from her mum & sister while she was bleeding and so we could keep a closer eye on her, which worked out great for us but not for her as she was away from them for 3 days in total they now refuse to socialise with her and when we tried to put them back together the other 2 head butted her so we took her back out and she is fine and happy as she gets alot of attention now. she is about 18months old and i am just so glad that the illness seems to have passed and she is back to her full of beans cheeky self :D i just want to say a huge THANK YOU to all for your concerns and badger send lots of hugs and sqeeks too xx

Oh I am so happy she is well again! I am sure the other piggies will rebond with her. Maybe she smells medical. I would bath them all so they smell the same.

Did you take her to the vets though?

I hate to say but just because she has stopped bleeding doesnt mean the potential problem has gone away. If its a stone or a UTI or even a gynae problem she will be in pain and that needs sorting really.

Good luck, let us know how she progresses x
