Hey Megan - where abouts do you live? Just the general area so that we might be able to help you find a good vet.

Could you take a picture for us so we can see in more detail what's wrong?

meganhannaford: welll he is what if the new girl was infact a boy, for the vet said girl but i knew more than her

Posted today, 11.14pm
meganhannaford: she is a female, i can see her lady parts okay

Which one is true?!

If she IS female, and she's with an entire male, chances are she's pregnant.

If she IS bleeding, it may well be related to a pregnancy.

Do you like your pig? Do you want her to live?

If the answer to the above questions is YES, then she needs to see a vet.

Does this mean your boy hasn't been neutered? xx

yes for he doesnt need to for he had a birth defex that gets checked (his sperm is not good! please listen) and i live in australia in a small city port pirie where there is one vet and the others around close also *** know much either :( the only vets are over 3hrs and booked out, so i want to know heaps so i can help the pirie vet out! i am not breeding he cannot, god i joined this forum knowing that why do * think i wanted him desexed, the vet would of if he had to she isnt a vet that doesnt love money, however for he didnt she thought about the risk more

If she IS female( true), and she's with an entire male, chances are she's pregnant. (wrong birth defect hello! it gets checked) i wanted to desex him however if he has duds why go through the risk if the sperm is unable to produce younG)

If she IS bleeding, it may well be related to a pregnancy. (how if she cannot get pregnant, can sex do this for he till can do this but just wont do anything like he is wearing a condom!)

Do you like your pig? Do you want her to live? i *** like i love! i am tryin to get into the vets its hard when ** at school and * rang before and ** going to try at recess, lunch and after if not off to jamestown *** care about an appointment, my boyfriend is also ringing now!! i am tryin to get her in so stop sayin i do not care i am tryin

(i have put stuff in ** post)

I'm just confused because you've said you don't think the vet knows very much but they've been able to tell you that he is infertile. I think you need to know there is a big possibility that your vet was mistaken and your girl might be pregnant. As Amanda said the bleeding could be to do with complications and she really does need to see a vet urgently. You obviously care for your pigs so please get her seen or you are risking her life. xx

ok....

Firstly, the chances of a pig being born sterile is VERY slim.

Secondly, just because one sperm sample comes up as infertile, doesn't mean that this is always going to be the case.

What gender is the bleeding pig?

Is the pig still bleeding?

What an awful situation for you Megan, I'm afraid I have never heard of a birthing defect in male pigs and from your earlier posts I can only presume your current vet does not know much about guinea pigs so could therefore not advise if he is good or not.

I'm afraid I have no experience with pregnancies so cannot advise, I can only reiterate the need for a vet asap.

I hope your piggy will be ok, I would also keep the girls separated from the boy.

i got him checked again to see if he still was he was! he gets checked (i am not stupid!, if he became fertil than desexed is my option trust me) and yes the bleeding pig was the female, and no she isnt any more!

yeah i was suprise when she said he was... but why risk desexing when i was told it was a stupid idea (not her words more proffesinal way) and i wish ppl listening i was going to desex him but found out i didnt have to so why the pain why the risk if i get him checked all the time for i worry, and he is always the same still a dud sterm :( and i am tryin to get into the vets please tell ppl i am they are acting like i *** care hello i am tryin i cannot leave school (for the teachers already said no ive begged) and when i thought well it didnt last long and she has stopped that maybe it was from sex for he stll can move his man thing, but even if thats the case he would be checked again today, and she would even if it was from intercourse! all the money ived save gos towards the pigs i have over $3000 for these pigs these are my life so please ppl)

Hey Megan - is there a rescue near to you? One that perhaps deals with small animals like guinea pigs? If there is and you are struggling to get an appointment at the vets, or if the vet isn't very good - a rescue might be able to help you.

Otherwise here are some vets:

Port Pirie Veterniary clinic, 40 main road, (08) 8633 1203

Institute of Medical and Veterniary science (08) 8638 4674 (not sure if this contact number will be of much use)

Are these vet clinics close to you?

Clare Valley Veterinary Service. Clare Vet Clinic 55 Victoria Road
Clare SA 5453, 08 88422822 [email protected]

Jameston Vet Clinic - 4 Vohr St, Jamestown SA 5491, 08 86640923 [email protected]
http://www.cvvs.com.au/ - this one provides 24 hour emergency service.

Maybe you could ask if the vets do call outs?

no resuces only 3-5hrs away and it would still be after school hours, this is why when i am older and gone to tafe about small animal care i am openin a rescue for this can happen to someone else, and i know its a slim thing to happen to a male pig but she said well it has happen to me and said she wasnt happy to do the surgery when it wasnt needed, it wasnt my fault if she was wrong, i asked vets around me they have never desexed a guiinea only here has :(

i would not rule out pregnancy however once I did have a female pig pass blood from her vagina she was believed to have passed a ureathra stone and was given antibiotics after she was X-rayed. When you go to the vets perhaps take a sample to, to rule out a UTI.

I would STRONGLY advise they are kept separated from the intact male and you to read up on signs of pregnancy. Monitor her very closely and consider neutering for you boy or a male friend.

Megan I do hope that I didn't come across as harsh to you, I just think a lot of people (including you!) think it's best to get this girl seen and sorted sooner rather than later. I know it must be very difficult for you to get the time to go and get her seen, I find that is the case with where I work. I do hope you manage to get her seen today / tomorrow (sorry, I'm useless with time zones!) and I hope everything turns out to be ok for you and your girl. Hopefully someone a bit more experienced can help with you out with some more information for you to pass onto the vet when you get her seen x

i wanted ppl to tell me what it could be from sex to terrible diesease so when i go into the vets today i can tell them what it could be to hurry it up and get the best treatmeant like i said money is not a problem! i told parents they have no important on the money decision its my money and if it cost 3grand so be it!

well the pair have been together since birth (the ppl who gave them to my parents said girls however were wrong, i found out and got the boy checked ready for desex however was told no need defect however always checked to see if it still stays this way) so if she was wrong (vet) she would of had babies by now, trust me when i found out the sexes were wrong i went on watch. and thanks for helping i will tell her to check that, what way is this checked and * didnt have to put the pig to sleep for the xray did * i *** want to cause more harm, and would antibiotic hurt it if it was food stuck or itwas just after sex (first time)

i know ** not i am justin crying and thats why i seem annoyed ive neever own a sick before normal the vet says perfect health like yesterday! the vet better not of missed something! and trust me i would not wait more than a day to get her check she is my first girl animal and i tell her all my problems like a sister would do sorry i am just so worried the bleeding stopped though she is eating, drink, poohin i checked the pooh in the morning gross i know but i went through it! and the fleece was no signs of blood and she stopped, i stated early that in the first blood stain on the fleece there was a pellot coverd in it sorta crushed, i know ** helping everyone this time i really know

Stuff what school say's, just take him/her whatever it is to the vets please! Go to school when you've been to the vets and have an answer.

Please post clear close up pics of your pigs bits on here and we can sex them for you, i would NEVER EVER risk having a male with a female just because the vet says its infertile, as i am sure you know megan, it only takes ones swimmer to get her pregnant then you risk hers and the babies lives if there are complications, what is there is a baby stuck and you have school and cant take her for a few days?

Were trying to help, and i feel like we aren't getting anywhere. I have no doubt you love and care for your animals more than anything else, but when they are bleeding and you dont know why especially from their bits - they need to see a vet with a matter of urgency. How would you feel if you waited to take her because you had school, then when you get in from school she had died, but could have been saved had she of gone to see a vet sooner?

Good luck xx
