Helping Dexy move on from darling Jasper.

As many of you know we lost our special boy Jasper last week, and Dexter was lost without him. We got in touch with the local rescue to find a new playmate for Dexter.
However something happened accidentally, that sorted it out for us. Our boys have a large play pen that they take turns in, i looked into Dexters cage and saw him so closed the door. I then let out spike and Jem, and went out for the afternoon. When i got back i thought i was imagining things when i saw Spike, Jem AND Dexter sleeping together in the same cage! when i looked in Dexters cage, i realised it was actually a teddy that i had seen and shut inside, Dexter was still out when i let the other boys in the pen :x I was so cross with myself as i knew how awful that could have turned out.
However over the last week we have gradually increased the playtime together, and for the last 2 days they have happily shared a cage. Jem and Spike LOVE their new little friend :a19:
I am aware its early days and am still keeping a close eye but the signs are good. If I pick Dexter up his new daddies fret, and they shepherd him to safety if something frightens them. Dexter particularly loves Jem, and he popcorns constantly!
Although i still miss Jasper very much, I am very happy to see Dexter managing so well, and being so happy :<>

AWWW - sometimes piggies make their own choices!

Dexter wouldn't be the first one to go down this route and attach himself to a laid back couple of adult boars. Boys that choose each other is the best bonding of them all. Fingers crossed that they work out! x)

Dougals shocked 'innocent' face! What IS funny is that Jem will taunt him from behind the bars, but once when Dougal escaped, Jem pooped his pants :... He ran to me and tried to climb up my leg :)) But he doesn't learn and still winds him up, they just HATE each other !

I also adore this photo. Look at his little piggy lips....so cute. fingers crossed that they continue to all be friends x ps you dont look awful in that photo, you look fine xx
 
This sounds like the best sort of boar bonding... one they choose themself.

I'm so glad that they have been getting on, and it sounds like they have a wonderful potential start there :) Keeping my fingers and my piggies' little toes crossed that everything works out :)) x

here he is looking coy. I just love him, he's not the brightest pig which brings lots of laughs at his antics. A really sweet boy, grumpy but sweet if that's poss :(|)

p.s Does anyone know what kind of pig Jem is? (ginger fuzzy one) I thought he was a teddy but I'm not sure.

Jasper... :( I shed a few more tears seeing his little face in your pic 8... He'll be happy things are going well :)
