It's with a sad heart that I announce the passing of Hendricks my neutered boar.

He came to live with me a year ago from @HansPiggies when he didn't get along with his cage mate.

Hendricks was neutured and lived a long happy year with his ladies.

Two days ago I noticed a small lump around his bottom area as suspected it was an abcess.

He had it drained and was put on anti biotics. However yesterday morning I came down to him and he wouldn't move from his bed. He had completely stopped eating and just sat snuggling his head into my chest.

The vets scanned him and found a mass in his stomach. They did an emergency operation and found a huge tumour near his stomach.

He pulled through the operation and I got a phone call to say all was well. But shortly after the phone rang again.

He had a fit after coming round from the anesthetic and shortly after passed away.
I hurt so much right now. He was the peace keeper of the herd. All the girls respected him , and he was so cheeky and gentle.

A special boy that will always hold a place in my heart. He was taken from this world too young, but the memories he has left will be cherished forever.

I love you Hendricks. x x

Oh no - I can't quite believe I'm reading this @ayemee. I can only imagine how you are feeling. It's such a shock to suddenly lose what otherwise appeared such a healthy and treasured piggy. My heart goes out to you xx
Hendricks was a handsome and talented husboar. You and the girls were lucky to have had him. And he was a very lucky chap to have had such a lovely home and so many devoted wives.

I'm so sorry Amie about Hendricks, he was a very lucky boy to have a mum like you. Run free little man x

I am so sorry for your loss! it always comes as a huge shock when a piggy doesn't pull out from a major operation that could have gone either way, especially if it comes hard on the heels of the news that he was coming out of it well.

Try to take consolation that you have given Hendrick a chance - that is all you can do under the circumstances as a loving owner. The rest is out of your control. You haven't failed him; it was simply not to be.

He was a gorgeous boy and will be badly missed by you and his sow-wives.
 
I am so sorry Amie, what a horrid shock

He was such a handsome lad and you and his friends gave him the most wonderful life full of love. You really did try all you could remember that. Huge hugs to you at this sad time x

This has brought tears to my eyes. I am so so sorry, what a handsome, handsome buy and taken far too soon. Run free handsome fella. Hugs xx

Martha is very quiet since his passing as they were very close. Will be keeping an eye on her.

So sorry he didn't pull through. What a shock when you got the call to say he had taken a turn for the worse. Popcorn forever at the bridge gorgeous boy....x
