Ive just realised ive not added this story on here yet, Some of you may have read it on the rabbit forum but for those that havent, here it is

On the 11th of september 2009 i recieved a phone call, with the message "I'm moving and leaving the rabbit" i begged her to tell me their address and i raced to get a travel case and everything ready and set off to collect the bunny. They were just going as we turned up, they were about to abandon this beautiful bunny and where not going to look back. The bunny was kept outside in a rotting cage/run (one of those triangle ones) he had rotting veg in his cage, no bedding, no hay and no other food. The bottle on his cage was full of thick green alge. I then opened the cage to find this petrified although beautiful bunny, we talked calmly trying to calm him down so that we could get him in the travel case. He was not having any of it, so we had to just put him in the travel case. Henry taught me the value of thick gloves! My arm's will always remind me of that horrid day.

When we got henry home we checked him over to discover the horrific state of his teeth and bottom. He was so sore bless him. His teeth had grown around his mouth but luckly not into his mouth or face. His teeth were twisted and we suspect he had been dropped as a baby. I immediatly got some critical care into him and some fluids, then we went to our rodentologist for an emergency tooth trim.

Since september Henry has had his teeth cut and trimmed twice a month. Untill now, he is now in need of an operation as his teeth are just far beyond repair and they really cause him so much pain. So it is in his best interest to have them removed. He copes well with eating with his lips, he will not touch hay, but copes well enough with a fibre enriched diet, vegetables and the small amounts of grass he will eat. Currently we are raising the funds for his operation.

Henry is an extremly shy bunny, but is alot happier and alot heavier than when he came in, although he has the odd nightmare. He will wake up suddenly and start stamping his back feet. He is them ofcourse comforted and made to feel safe.

I'm thankfull they actually called to alert me.

Unfortunatly the picture of his teeth isnt very clear, i will scan the better picture in when i get the chance.

Hes my baby! He binkied today for the first time! He is such a quiet laid back bun he usually just lays about near the front door but not today that boy was on fire! he was bouncing about all over.

My bunnies are not cuddle bunnies like Henry but they do binky for me! Norris binkies every day when I give him his pellets in the morning. He is quite highly strung and it is fun to see him letting his hair (ears) down. Henry's teeth were in awful state: poor boy! I am glad he now has the loving home he deserves.

Unfortunatly having his teeth trimmed as often as we did caused him so much pain he wouldnt eat by himself for days, we had to make the decision to have his teeth removed perminatly which is what we are selling the kids clothes for. His recent teeth picture ( i hate this picture) You will notice the bottom two teeth are rotting away and are growing through again. We need to wait untill the bottom ones are long enough to pull out.

we are unable to have his teeth trimmed (unless they cause major problems or look to grow into his skin. As the vet wants as much tooth to pull out as possible. We still need to raise over £100 for his op. I wanted to get him neuterd at the same time, to reduce the GA intake but we so far have been unable to raise the funds. If we were to have that op at the same time it would cost around £200 in total.

big hug to Henry a little beauty

at least away from those people now & in safe hands

what a lucky bun, to be rescued in the nick of time. well done you.
and he's an absolute stunner drool i love the pic of him having a snooze <3

He is beautiful, absolutely stunning! What a sad story but I am made up that he is being so well looked after now. His poor teeth look awful, how can people be so horrible? :(

What a horrible time poor Henry must have had! Thank God those people had one last tiny shred of decency left...

At least, he has found as much peace and love and hopefully, his nightmares will get less.

Best of luck with his teeth; they really look awful!

Poor little guy. People can be monsters, they really can.
I'm glad that there are people, like you, willing to give these sweeties another chance. It restores my faith in humanity. It honestly does.

He looks so happy now.
I hope you can get his teeth sorted, though. It looks like it must cause him alot of trouble and pain.

I'm glad that he is with someone who cares... I don't understand how someone can ever consider letting an animal die slowly of neglect and stavation.

Oh poor little love, how can people be so cruel.
Well done for saving him and i hope you can raise the funds xxxxx

What a heart wrenching story. I can't believe they were going to leave him to starve to death shut in his cage.
His poor mouth, I have never seen anything like that! He is just gorgeous, my heart was another that melted at his snoozy snap! Just think those stupid people who left him could have been having that kind of loving off him too!
I'm so glad he is happy and loved with you xx

Thank You.

When we collected him He was outside in a cage/run (disgusting one i might add) which is impossible to use, so will be sorted/fixed and made accessable to me to be able to use as a run/hutch in the summer months (bad back prevents alot of things that are easy for normal people rolleyes) The hutch was placed near the playground of a school, broken glass was near his cage, i dont know if that came from the naghty kids in the school or from the family who were supposed to love him. You couldnt see his hutch from their flat (massionate SP?) I'm not sure he had much attention, he was so afraid of human contact. He still to this day refuses to be picked up by anyone but me.

He is my baby and wont be going anywhere :) (hed be too much to handle for most people anyway. He often has nightmares which leave him stamping his feet which take a while to calm him down. To start with i had to sleep with him, to calm his fear's. He often stops eating and requires syringe feeding every two hours, which is a drain on the owners body aswell as his. He doesnt much like men, or many other people/children) We have such a strong bond as we learnt alot together and been through so much to keep this little one alive. It was a heart breaking decission to have his teeth taken out perminantly, but it is my only choice. Its is in his best interest and i have to keep saying that to myself, i hate the thought of putting him under a GA. He used to have his teeth trimmed by our rodentologist and he is so good bless him. It has got to the stage at which his teeth are just giving him so much grief that trimming is just far too painfull for him now and it makes him bleed tons and his teeth are so weak that they break alot. We need to raise another £90 for his operation now :)

poor henry is awful what people do 8...

you are making the right choice to remove his teeth as heart breaking as coming to that choice is henry well feel loads better once he's out of pain xx

oh Henry! i'm so glad people like you exist in the world..i just want Henry to realize that not all humans are bad..he looks very handsome and deserves the love and attention he is getting now

Oh my word he's BEAUTIFUL.
x)
How anyone could treat an innocent creature like that is beyond me!:)>>>

My Schumi had most of his teeth pulled out but enjoyed his dried food provided it was soaked in water so it was soft. Worth trying if he needs food.

Update please!

I'm so glad he's been rescued by someone so loving and understanding.

xoxo

Hey, its been a while since ive been on here.

Henry is doing well. He had his teeth removed. However he will remain here at PPAR as a mascot and sponser bunny. He doesnt trust other people and loves being here so it would be unfair to move him on.

He is so much happier, free ranges the upstairs of our house. His fav place to lay in the whole house is on the cold glass scales.

:)

I am delighted to hear that he is doing well, he is such a special bunny!
