I'm thinking of planting a little herb garden (in a pot) any suggestions for piggy friendly herbs to plant? I currently have basil growing on my kitchen windowsill (my piggies favourite thing in the whole wide world!) And outside I have chives and mint, which I'm not sure if guinea pigs can eat?

Chives belong to the onion family and can be harmful to guinea pigs (a are most types of bulb)

I grow both curly parsley and flat parsley whihc lasts throughout the summer with repeated cuttings.
I've tried dill and coriander before but find they bolt too easily so don;t last long.

Thanks for your replies. I was thinking parsley and coriander but hadn't thought of growing both types of parsley. Thanks for the link Flutterby, that looks like a good one to read through. I used to have a vegetable patch, but there is now a big trampoline in its place thanks to my kids! I still grow a few things in pots, I did have parsley last year but it didn't survive the winter this year!

I can't grow herbs over winter -I buy the "living" herbs from supermarkets over the winter . Herbs are great to grow in the summer

The living herbs are good, that's what my basil is, it's still going strong after a month! My local Tesco always seems to be out of stock of parsley though
