Hey all, Well it is a nice day where I am so I decided to take Herbie out for a little while on the grass, the only problem is that as soon as I put him on the grass all he seemed to do is eat it. What I was wondering was is it bad for him to eat grass for too long as I don't want him to get sick if he eats too much. I take him out on his towel but as I don't have a run for him yet I have to keep my eye on him as I have bushes all around my garden and they lead onto a busy road so I can't take my eyes off him. Is it ok for them to eat a lot of grass or not?

Also does anyone elses guinea pig seem to like to go into your skirts and just lie down underneath them? I know it sounds strange but Herbie found the opening and has decided to crawl in lol

Maybe just leave him on the grass for half an hour or so at first, then build it up from there. Grass is their fave food but if he is not used to it, it could upset his tum a little! As for him going under your skirts, he needed to hide and feel safe. You are better off getting him a run though in case he makes a bolt for it!

Agree. It could also cause bloat (build up of gas in the stomach), so putting him on the grass for a small period of time and building it up is essential. O0

guinea's love grass and it is quite good for them in moderation, so don't leave them out for to long (you don't want bloated piggies) ;D
my pigs also hide under my skirt etc. in fact they love snuggling or burrowing into any blanket or snuggly thing! i think they feel cosy :smitten:

Mine have moved outside for the summer, they have a hutch over their run with a ramp on the lawn. I move it around the garden every 3 or 4 days.

Who needs a lawnmower ;)
