Just thought I'd post a little soap opera about herd politics... its really fascinating to watch!
So we have 4 very feminist ladies plus husboar Theo in the herd, plus a future herd lady in quarantine upstairs. Theo can smell another lady...
For exactly 3 weeks now there has been a "mysterious female pig" smell that Theo can detect. He started off looking for her (in the hidey houses, under the newspaper, sniffing the air and peering out through the bars). No luck mate, she's in quarantine!
Initially only little favorite wife Puggle was upset. The boss lady and the trouble maker were encouraging him to go find the new girl.
Lady Puggle herded him into a hidey house and chirrup-nagged him and guarded him into submission. He sneaked out the back way looking for new ladies! Naughty boy...
Last weekend Lady Puggle was in season and that naughty husboar was ignoring her! No ear licking and hardly any mating. She was very grumpy and bit Piggy Daddy and stamped her little feet and jumped on the hidey house roof and started shouting at Theo and spraying pee in his eyes! Boss lady Clover came over and licked her face and calmed her down.
Naughty boy Theo... today is putting out an eye watering stench (my piggy room smells like a teenage boys bedroom only 24 hours after a full cage clean) and he's harumphing around smelling a lot and chin-up challenging all the ladies over every piece of food and bit of cage space...
And, every single lady, even gentle floof angel Jezebel who runs away from conflict, is challenging him right back! Gentle Jezzy reared up taller than him and out stared him nose to nose then head butted him into a corner and took back her beansprouts for the feminist cause.
Poor Theo! I tried explain to him the drawbacks of polygamy in a progressive feminist society but he just licked his boar bits and looked a bit sad...
So funny! There's no fighting its all very subtle shifts in herd politics but... Theo has lost some status now for being annoying and trying to be the boss and neglecting his ladies.
I hope I can introduce Blodwen soon while Theo is out of favour then favorite wife Puggle might accept her as a feminist ally rather than see her as a rival for Theo's affections!
