Introducing my gorgeous new girls that I collected on the 27th December and the 2nd January. All four have bonded quickly and easily. Thistle, abbyruvian, Willow, tri coloured rex, and Maya, golden agouti rex, are between 6 and 8 weeks, and Africa, black and tan rex, is slightly older at about 14 weeks or so. They are in a ferplast rabbit 140, with a further rabbit 140 being attached next weekend and I am a convert to the inco pad and fleece set up. I can't have a C & C because of the chickens. It is great to have piggies squeaking in the house again. The photos were taken before i put all their bits and pieces back in the cage. Africa is the most nervous of them all. Willow is already hand feeding. I think she is going to be like my beloved Roman in character

AWWW - what gorgeous girls!

I am glad that all went well; they are young enough to bond easily. You will always get a mix of characters in a group!

I like your set up and that posh fleece!

Lol! I like thistle the abbysinian! I love abbysinians!

Thistle is a cinnamon and white ruby eyed abyssinian peruvian cross (bit of a mouthful that!). Her mum also has a satin coat. Her colours haven't come out too well in the photo.

The fleece was from Ikea. It was £10 for a blanket that is 240cm x 150cm. I bought 2, so I have 4 pieces of fleece which gives me a set and a spare for each cage. The inco pads were from Amazon.

I have to say Wiebke that I was really chuffed with how easy it was to bond them. As you say, they are all very young and their groups had not really been established. Within half an hour they were all settled. There was a bit of squabbling but nothing vicious, just a bit vocal. It helped that the big cage was a neutral territory to all of them. It was far easier than bonding chooks! It also renewed my faith and confidence, having had supposedly bonded boys in the past (not bonded by me). Your thread on bonding sows was really useful - thank you. I had it open on the lap top beside me while I was watching them LOL! Hopefully peace will continue to reign as they get older - even when they are suffering from PMT ;-)

They look lovely! Thistle is esp gorgeous!

Am i being daft but do you have chickens in your house?

:)):)):))No you aren't being daft! It is the way I have explained myself! I have 11 chickens - I used to have 15. They have an enormous run in the garden but when I am home, and can supervise them -due to a fox - they free range round the garden. However they are cheeky so and so's and Cough and Clem in particular tend to scoot into any open door they find, and are often to be found in the conservatory or, in Cough's case, under my bed!

This is a photo of Handbag - one of my favourite chooks (don't tell the others!). She is a silkie. That means she has feathers that feel more like fur than feathers. Everything about her is black, even her skin, bones and her flesh (sorry if that sounds a bit graphic)
