In an hours time I'm heading off to get my new rescue piggeh, Robin. I am thoroughly excited about it all and quite nervous at the same time; very intruiged to see how him and Hamish will get on.
I'm gonna need some support so I've made this thread so that I can update things along the way and so please help me with your opinions on where to go next!

Right, off to get ready, wish me luck! :)p

Best of luck! Somebody will be here...

Thanks guys!

So far...so good...I think...

Sitting here on the floor with them and a lot of noise is going on - so far Robin took a mini chunk of fur from Hamish but Hamish is relentless in mounting him...that's stopped for the moment though. They've eaten together and done a lot of sheek rubbing...and bum snifffing...I have no idea how to tell when they've officially bonded and when to put them in their cage. It's been nearly an hour so far.

On another note Robin is beautiful! And he's 2 years old :)

Ok no proper fighting is going on, but the noises are going up and down constantly and there is a lot of chasing and humping going on, plus rumbling.
This has been over and hour now and it keeps changing...

I have no idea what's going on or how to look at this...when will I know when things are right if they keep changing? 0-o

Right oh.

All went quiet for a long time as the pair seemed to have tired each other out by running around like mad hatters. Sorted out their cage and have now put them in...two hours that's been now.

So far they've gone into the same hidey hole and nibbled some hay in peace and quiet - just a few little noises here and there...

I am on stand-by just incase - the guys have gone to get me food as I'm starving but not letting them out of my sight!

*sigh* hope this works out *fingers crossed*

How exciting. Two boys meeting for this first time will be very curious and they will be establishing dominance at the moment. Maybe distract them with some treats. Cant wait to hear more about their bonding..

As there have been no bloody fights so far, you are in with a good chance. there will be some more rounds of the same, though, after a proper rest period, but they should hopefully not be as intense.

that they are holed up together and eating peacefully, is a VERY good sign!

Sorry for sounding all panic-y, I was just sitting watching the whole thing thinking 'no blood...no blood...this is a good sign? why won't Hamish just give it up?!'
So far there's some noise making and maybe a bit of rumbling/purring coming from the hidey hole. I reckon they're just relaxing but continuing their dominance argument.

I'm starting to worry about tonight! When I go to sleep, what might happen! :...

Hey I think it sounds good! From what I've read about boars that sounds pretty normal and quite positive.

Hope it carries on!

Aww brilliant, well then I will think good thoughts and keep positive about it all! :)

Here's a few pics of them - I missed out on all the amazingly sweet things they did whilst out and about but just to show you Robin and Hamish together. The size difference is amazing!

(I made sure everything was clean and free from Hamish' scent before putting them together, so it was completely neutral ground!)

You are right - Robin is such a gorgeous aby! Your two boys make a very striking pair!

If there are no fights until this evening, you can go to sleep knowing that here won't be any over night. Make sure there is an extra hut in the cage for the night (in case Robin gets possessive) and that the food bowls are well separated and all will be fine.

Excellent who's who and between they are gorgeous x)!

If it makes you feel any better Fred and Marvin spent last night in there cage and they were head butting... Brrr's and chattering when I left them for sleeps but both were intacted this morning! -c

Haha, no worries Joanne ;)

Thank you all for the support and compliments on the pair, they are stunners <3
Robin was a very beautiful surprise as I had no idea what he looked like before getting him - totally wasn't expecting him to have so much hair! Haha :))

Right, so no fights by night...hopefully no fights through the night *checks* That should be grand then, hopefully! I don't want to jinx anything XD

I have an igloo at one end and a hidey hole at the other, food bowl on each side and a water bottle on each side. Fresh veg is in the middle and there are even two tunnel type things in there - I wanted to make sure there was two of everything to prevent squabbles!
