Lady Kelly
Senior Guinea Pig
I think we have another bout of ringworm...
Weds night I saw Donald's eye looked a little white underneath and when I got him out he had a thin flaky line across his lower eyelid and a tiny scab in the middle. Cue panic... The OH managed to calm me down and said it looked more like a scratch. The forage cube has been very well demolished so it's not impossible that he stuck his head in and caught it for example. Roll forward to Thursday and the scab is gone and the white bit looked smaller so I thought maybe the OH was right...
Tonight is a different story. I got him out to have a look and there is definitely a spread of the white into a small circle and some hairloss. We only went through this in June and I treated them all with imaverol which did the trick. I still have tons of F10 to keep me going but obviously don't want to bathe them while it's cold out (they are currently in the garage but it's still too nippy for damp hair in there). I'm planning to call the vets first thing and plan to ask for intrafungol to administer orally. I take it I should ideally treat all four of them with intrafungol even though only one is showing any signs so far. I doubt I could squeeze all four in the carrier for one trip and I doubt they will prescribe for piggies they haven't seen before so I don't know how I'm going to manage this.
Luckily I have blocked Monday out in my work diary to make headway into the file audit so I might need to load up with tons of files and work from home to fit in another appointment for two of them on Monday
