Ive just caught up also. I'm sorry it’s been a difficult time, but I’m glad everybody is settling down. I also chuckled at the thought of him pooping on his neighbours!
Haha cheeky poopy Brillo! He just wants a nice tidy cage really, trying to help his mum! Glad no more vets though!
I kept blaming Jasper for soaking and messing up one corner of his cage (as well as the rest!) but turns out it’s Cleo’s toilet corner and it’s taking over his cage too as c&c joined together! Will see how long that lasts though, Jess did the same as a baby then gave up at about 6 months and didn’t care about swimming in it all in every bed and hidey she could find!
It was funny to watch, a bit of light relief after all the stress and wound tending. I've curled the fleece pad up the front now so the other's don't get bombarded!
After 3 and a bit weeks next to Caspy and Nugget things were not settling down as I hoped. There was a lot of aggression between Caspy and Red along the divider. Caspy started taking his frustration out on Nugget, the mounting was relentless and the very loud submission squealing was upsetting for human's and piggies alike. Rusty started mounting Peanut (never known before), no one was happy. I also felt that Caspy and Nugget needed their full cage size if their bond was to survive, they after all have always been the pairing I felt most likely to fail. Reluctantly I have moved Red into a 120 cage, it's next to Caspy and Nugget but doesn't seem to have quite the same negative effect, I guess because it's not actually part of their cage. I put Red's cage in the kitchen while I clean the other's out and Brillo has some floor time to say hello to the other piggies. When Brillo has had enough and climbs into a hidey to sleep he goes back to his cage and Red has some floor time so he has more space for zoomies and socialising with Caspy and Nugget through the bars. I don't like the 120 cage, I don't think it's big enough but it's the best I can do with the room we've got. I've ordered a stand with wheels for Reds cage so I can move him around more easily on my own. I keep getting visions of the tea trolleys of my childhood in my head for some strange reason! The lovely thing to come out of all this is that Red has become a lap pig! He now sits on me in the evening while we play scrabble or watch a film, he's perfectly relaxed on his fleece pad and sleeps with his back legs stretched out behind him. After all these years and lots of piggies I have a lap pig! He likes to have the last word though, last night he shifted position and was in danger of falling off my lap so I put my hand behind him to support his legs, he neatly deposited 4 poops into my hand.
Thanks @Siikibam he is being very sweet. I've always thought of Red as being the difficult one, but I think his aggression is all fear and bluster really. He bit Caspy after living with him happily for 5-6months, has a hissy fit at Rusty on sight, I have to make sure I don't get their runs near each other when arranging lawn time. He fights me at health checks and yet suddenly he's being more of a people pig.
No one can say you haven’t tried your best to accommodate these blooming troublesome boys! But good to hear you’ve got a lap pig. Every home should have one.
Aw, so glad you have a lap pig, how lovely it’s Red I am still working on Posh, she is quite happy for a little while , but Ginger is can’t keep still for more than a couple of minutes
