Sorry in advance for the utterly long message I'm about to type....firstly....
I cant believe it's been a year in June (the 22nd to be precise) since i brought my boys into my home and life, they were so tiny at eight weeks old, and now they are huge bundles of energy!
I'm also amazed that it'll be a year since i've joined the forum, normally i leave forums after a week or two as i loose interest very quickly. But this community is wonderful and I'm drawn to all the piggies stories, and lovely friends i have made along the way.
The rescue side of the forum has made an hugely important impact on my life, i now regularly give to various piggie charities and has changed the way i view pet stores and the way i choose to shop for not only my pet products but for skin care and general products. It has also opened my eyes to pet shops and how the baby pigs are supplied. I am also now aware of Guinea Pig Rescues, and can now advise friends, family and colleagues of piggie rescues.
The rescues have done an amazing job this year, and this forum shows just how forums can make a difference to guineapigs lives, shown in the numerous rescues which took place this year..such as the Therapy Piggies in Kent (http://theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=63754), the big rescue which was organised by Millhaven (http://theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=64774&highlight=big+rescue) and the 68 guinea pigs which were rescued on the 16-3-11 (http://theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=64781) so many forum members, rescues and fosters went above and beyond to help these piggies and the people rescuing.
From piggie trains, to sending supplies, bedding, food and even offering their own homes. It’s just amazing to see how this forum makes a huge difference to piggies lives, and the love and care members have for piggies. Just insperational. It really is.
All forums have their up’s and down’s, and this forum is no different. We have had a lot of down’s recently we do have to remember that there is no right or wrong answers just different opinions and i hope people will continue to respect one another’s opinions and value our differences as these individual opinions make us a community.
I hope this forum continues to be a lovely supportive place where members can talk endlessly about their piggies, receive support, advice and consolation from piggie care to personal matters whether that be ‘what college course should i look into next ‘ or ‘which fake tan do you use’
I also hope that this forum will be the same warm and welcoming forum that kept me here for so long.
I hope future members enjoy this forum just as much the boys and I have, and enjoy plenty of giggles along the way!
So a big
And now i’ll get off my soapbox.....and leave you with a little message from the troublesome twosome:
"Yerp i do like it here Artie...."
"Me too Harvey, it's the perfect place to plonk."
