Hernia? HELP!

I have a little piggie which I got in October from a shelter, she is called mindy and she's about 3.
I was cutting her nails yesterday and noticed a strange lump on her lower underbelly, I took her to the vets today and the man said it was most likely a hernia as it does not cause her pain when you poke it, it's not the same consistency as a tumor and she is still eating, drinking and playing with my ore one as usual.
He tried to puch the fat back through the hole but it wouldn't go, which suggest the hole is small and so may be blocked by fat and other muscle.
Just wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation and could give me some advice?

Hmmm, not heard of a guinea pig hernia. To be honest it's more likely to be a cyst or abcess. Perhaps you could see a vet that is guinea savvy for a second opinion? x
 
we had a rescue guinea come in with a hernia well ive seen 2 with a hernia, if your guinea os young there is a chance it will heal its self once the tummy muscles are stronger, but many guineas live a happy full life with a hernia with out any problems, normally it can be pushed back in if its a hernia so its poss a fatty lump which are harmless if she is happy, eating well and in no pain as long as it doesnt get any bigger or cause her problems i really wouldnt worry x
 
sorry just seen she is 3, its poss a mammory tummor many guineas have these my own included and if they dont cause any problems just leave them a lone, best not to start doing ops when they really dont need it as it can cause more problems than worth, many guineas die from old age with mammory tummors and not from the mammory tummor its self x
 
Hmmm. I have read about them online, they are uncommon but do happen. Unsure of my next move! Thanks for your input though :)
 
Thank you! That's really helpful, to be honest I hate the idea of her getting cut open and poked with needles - horrible! I will make sure I monitor it very carefully, I hope so much she'll be okay! X
