When I first got Bobby and Bailey, Bailey learned how to get out of a tiny gap in the cage and go exploring. I've now got them in a C&C, so he's not getting out of that, and I thought I'd seen the last of his adventures.

Well, I had them out for grass time at the weekend, and I looked out the window and there was Bailey, outside the wire run, biting the bars to try to get in with the trio in their run! Turned out I'd missed one of the metal pins, and he'd managed to force the join apart and squeeze through a 2inch gap.
Fortunately he didn't go anywhere, and he's the easiest of my piggies to catch. Beginning to think I need to change his name to Houdini though!

:)) What a little sod! Piggy escape artists.... They do keep you on your toes :))

I have a large wooden run; my lawn is a bit lumpy and there are some places where it doesn't fully sit level on the grass. I was amazed to find that (twice) Max managed to squeeze out of a very very small gap and then was very scared being out in the open. Luckily a hidey filled with veggies lured him back to safety. I have no idea how he managed to get out of that size gap; it was smaller than his skull - Houdini piggie. So, if I need the grass "mowing" where it's uneven, poor Max doesn't get to go out!

How is it that some of them do this, and others stay put?

We have two skinny pigs (sow and neutered boar) and two haired Guinea pigs (both sows). They have a run that takes up our whole living room, it is divided in two as they don't all live together. Our normally quietest sow Peggy has recently become an escape artist, constantly getting out of her run and wandering around. Tonight we found her in the skinny pigs run, no idea how she got in there as I couldn't see any gaps. She had then tried to get through the skinny pigs sea grass tunnel and, being a larger lady, got stuck. We were cage cleaning and heard her squeaking and came running to see what was wrong. Thankfully the only injury was to Peggy's dignity.
