I can't believe it. Just received a call from the vets just over an hour ago to give us the bad news! 8...

He went under GA and pretty much slipped away....... Vet tried to revive him but to no avail. The vet did have a quick look at the X-ray couldn't see his heart due to a cloud in his lung?!? Whether this was the cause who knows. I am totally gutted but glad he's not suffering.

I am so very sad about the bad news! Having lost several of mine during unavoidable operations, I know how much that shakes you! You and your vet did for Jerry what you could; you have not let him down in any way.

RIP Jerry - you were much loved and are now a much missed piggy
 
I'm really sorry and know how you are feeling well simular,as my pet syerian hamster who had an op to drain an abcess in her side,i was told it should be fine but hours later got a call from the vets to say the abcess had completely spread inside her and they just couldnt get to it,and she had gone blind in one eye and recovery basically was no hope so the kindest thing to do was let her go! Not bring her around from the G A, she was only a few mths old very young adult and i was gutted as i loved that hamster, so i can imagine how you are feeling,
I'm just sorry and rip little piggy who i can see was very much loved and will be missed, these little animals become apart of us and part of the family so loosing them is always so hard, i really feel for you.
 
I'm so sorry for loss, sleep well little man. I know it doesn't help the pain in your heart but to go under GA is a good way to go he wouldn't have felt a thing!

Thank you for all your comments. I am glad we have given him he best life and he was able to spend it with us. He was the coolest GP we have had. He acted liked a prince and was spolit like one too.
We will have others no doubt who will be treated the same loving way. For now it will be a quiet squeak free house until such time we feel its suitable to fill the massive void that such a small animal with a hugh personality as left behind!
