Just come downstairs and Hettie was just lying on the vet bed.

I picked her up and she just isn't herself.

Gave them their breakfast and she has just ignored it.

Given her some metacam and just waiting for vet to open at 8.30am.

No idea what's wrong with her, so very worried.

Poor angel, hope the vets can help. At least she is covered with pain relief until you can get her there.

Phoned at 8.30 and they said to take her straight in.

Examined her, feels a little bit bloated but nothing massive. Checked her over, heart, front teeth, everything fine.

Have kept her, and Colin who went along for moral support! for an xray later to see if that throws any light on what maybe wrong.

Picking them up at 4.15pm.

Good you got her seen so promptly, hope she's feeling better soon xx

Sending love to you, Colin and Hettie, paws crossed it's nothing too serious and can be treated promptly x

I hope it's something that can be corrected quickly.
It's a bit like someone is in hospital, you wander around aimlessly & worry that things are OK.
Only a guinea pig mum can know that feeling.

The Vet showed us Hettie's Xrays, quite a bit of gas in her tummy, lungs fine, no cysts or anything nasty.

She had been given Ranatadine and had some critical care syringed.

Brought them home and Colin dived into their tea whilst Hettie went and hid. I brought her back out and gave her a syringe of food and then offered her some cucumber which she ate! She then had another slice of cucumber, some pepper, a piece of kale and a grape :)

She has since eaten hay and grass so hopefully she is well on the road to recovery!

Excellent news! So glad it's nothing too serious and they are both home again :luv:

Glad Hettie is on the mend and that she had Colin for moral support at the vets.
