i have recently been given a 2nd hand rabbit hutch as it was no longer needed.. and i had agreed after many desperate pleas from my daughter that she could have a rabbit! ... until!... i came across a guinea pig rescue home local!

so after a very long and persuasive chat with my daughter about how much better guinea pigs are and we can have two (i have a little boy too), so one each (although really they'll both be mine hehe) she caved in reluctantly! pow-pow

So i came on here and put a post about my hutch and what to do etc as want to do it up and make it beautiful for our new arrivals, and with lots of advice i'm now clued up on flooring and fleeces etc!

then.. whilst i'm out hutch accessory shopping my grandmother took my daughter down to our local park to feed the ducks etc and there was a mini easter farm set up (they do it each year), so in they went... and there they were! The rescue homes guinea pigs!

She came home full of it! She didnt stop going on about these 2 tiny ones and ones brown and white and the others a tri colour and she loves them and wants them and bla bla bla lol

SO! I've emailed the lady who runs the rescue place and explained about the 2 my daughter had seen etc (praying they were both the same sex!) and they are both boys! they are one week old at the moment, from two different mothers, born 4 hours apart! brothers from different mothers lol

And! they're ours!

We collect them on sunday 22nd April x)x)x)

So i have sat down tonight and made them a cozy sack to snuggle in big enough for them both and will make another two tomorrow for them!

The hutch is being painted tomorrow ready. once i can find some pet friendly paint!

Their indoor hutch is arriving tomorrow night also so that can be cleaned etc and i'm just so excited!

They're both smooth coats (i've not even seen them yet!) we are going down saturday morning to meet her and see them with their mums, (will get lots of pictures) and then we'll get tickets so we can go whenever we like up til day we collect them :<>:<>

I simply cant wait!

What a lovely story! I really hope the time goes quickly for you! I bet you can't wait! :(|)

i'm so excited! but have so much to do and learn over next three weeks! Feel like i'm almost nesting myself ready for my babies to arrive! :)):))

Well this has been an excellent forum for me to learn so i hope you get as much info and advice as you need. Best of of luck!

You'll really enjoy having your piggies, and you will get as much help/advice and support as you could possibly want from this forum. Of course, we'll all want to see photos as soon as you have them.

How exciting! I'm so glad your daughter was won over when she saw the wee souls for herself!

How did you make the cuddle sacks?

thanks everyone, i'm getting loads of tips and advice i'm very grateful.

i will put some photos up as soon as i have met them myself! i've fallen in love with two baby boys i've not even met yet! :<>:<>

i followed instructions on line and they didnt take to long to make either i was quite surprised!

Those wee rescue pigs are going to be in clover! :) Thanks for the pics of the cuddle sacks. I should have a go at making a couple. I have so MANY things I need to get on with........

If you're interested, cuddle sacks, cups and other goodies can be bought from members on here, many of whom make them to provide support for rescues. Check out the for sale threads. If you're too busy to make year own of course. Also available are some c&c and other made to measure cage liners often all to match. Another way to support various rescues and the great work they do. And some of the fleeces are to die for.

thanks katie but i'm going to see if i can make them all myself, may save a few pennies 8;)

Aww welcome to the world of piggles! I bet you cant wait to get your boys, I bet they will be amazingly spoilt piggys :)
