Hi I Have A Bit Of An Urgent Question Regarding Bonding Please Can Someone Comment If You Time To Ty

Hi I'm sorry we have just been freaking out. Please can you watch this youtube link and tell us if this intr went ok between our 2 pairs of sows. We seperated them because we got scared. Thanks for your help .

Basically we have 2 pairs that we have tried to introduce. 1 pair is 7 months old and the other is 12 months old. They are all sows.
during the meeting the biggest of the pigs was showing dominance over all the other piggies which i know is normal and was expected. What I'm worried about is the really loud squeeking from one of the younger pair
also the biggest was fighting with her own cage mate which i did not expect. The video was shot just after they had finished eating there veggies with no problems this all started after all the food was gone.

I get the feeling this wasnt a good intro and we are really worried that they may not be able to eventually live together.

What do u all think ?

Wow you've got a vocal bunch of sows! :)) It looks like it's going pretty well so far :D They're so fast too haha!

Sorry I don't have time to watch a full 16 minute video on your introduction. If you can highlight the time in the video for what you are concerned about perhaps that would help.

First off have you read our guide on sow behaviour? Sow Behaviour If not I would suggest reading it as it will answer a number of your questions. It does suggest not separating them unless there is a serious and bloody fight as everytime you separate and put back together they have to restart the whole process

Second, loud squealing is a sign of submission and not usually a sign of pain being inflicted so I would not let that worry you at all.

The loud squeaking doesn't sound like fear or submission, they sure are noisy though haha! I've found that the older original pairs always have a bit of a moment as the hierarchy changes with the new arrivals but it's all normal :)
