Thank you very much, i will take her to the vets and ask them.I would recommend that you ask a vet nurse whether she would help you cut off the spur at a safe distance from live skin as it has a form that means that it can catch and rip open skin easily if you are not feeling confident doing it yourself. Many UK vet clinics do allow their nurses to perform grooming services like nail cutting cheaply without a full vet consultation fee.![]()
So what causes it then.Thankfully I am confident enough to do my own so just trim any spurs down as/when needed.

Right okay, i was worried it was somthing i have done. Thank youSpurs are very common; they are just dead horny skin growths. Guinea pigs tend to get them on their front legs as they live on soft bedding and no longer hard, rough ground.![]()
