I have never in all the guineas I've owned seen this. I've read up and it is a thing in older boars but help! His penis parts are fully out of his body? It was partly out last week and I clean and check all the time but Just about see his penis tip now?! What do I do!

Oh dear this is definitely one for the emergency vets, that looks very painful :(
Poor piggy, all you can do is try keep him comfortable until your vet appointment, did you explain this is a real emergency? Hopefully he will be ok until 5pm but maybe if you pop along sooner they can see you earlier x

Only a vet can say for sure but possibly its a blockage or a prolapse, this isnt something I've seen before myself, possibly others more experienced with boars have but whatever it is he urgently needs emergency vet care- only a hands on examination by a vet after a lot of pain relief can possibly help here. Hope he will be ok x

We can't diagnose from a picture, please just try to keep him comfortable until you can see the vet and let us know how you get on x

Ok. It's literally happened over night to get that big. Will update later. I've even rung other vets but no appointments there at all. So hope he be ok til 5 pm

It is difficult to tell from your photograph, but it would appear that your guinea pig has a rectal prolapse. However, I note that you believe that your guinea pig's penis is involved.

Please keep your guinea pig separated from others; in a clean, soft, and dry enclosure; and check on him periodically, to ensure that he is not tampering with the exposed tissue.

The exposed tissue appears to be relatively healthy/not compromised, but you may wish to carefully check to see if there is a piece of hay, hair, or some other foreign body/material wrapped around the exposed tissue/that is causing the exposed tissue to swell.

Providing the exposed tissue continues to appear to be relatively healthy/not compromised, while not ideal, I would hope that your guinea pig could wait until 5 pm to be seen by the veterinarian without suffering any other ill-effects.

If you can get your guinea pig seen sooner, that would be better. If the exposed tissue begins to change colour/darkens etc…, please seek veterinary advice/attention ASAP.

I have checked nothing blocking and gave used Luke warm water to clean gently but he hated it. He's just on towel bedding for now and removed any hay off the floor of the cage to make sure not getting trapped in that. Hoping my vets know what to do . It appears to be the penis part rather than the anus. Hoping it will go back to normal but I'm way out of my comfort zone as never seen this before in any of my males

I have been bathing it til we now en route to vet. It has reduced drastically in size but hoping vet has answers

I know you want to help but I dont think bathing it is really going to help much and it may be very painful for piggy when you do that. Let's hope the vet can give him some strong pain relief and a thorough examination and some good treatment. Paws crossed its something that can be treated and he makes a successful revovery x

Hi all. Vets think it's hormones? They really examined him ( he's very tender) given metacam. Vet is contacting tonight the speciaist vets in two other vet areas to ask for advice. Wants to see him next Fri but sooner if gets worse. It has reduced in size

Vet said to give Luke warm bath and keep skin that's come out clean to avoid infection. She is contacting specific vets

Oh poor you and your poor boy. Can't add any advice, just wanted to lend my support and healing vibes. I hope your vet gets some helpful advice from the other vets.

Very important to check that he is urinating, hope the specialist vets can advise better and the metacam brings down the swelling and keeps him comfortable x

She checked for growths etc could not feel any lumps etc. She squeezed bits out then made sure they went back in but some still hanging out like a cauliflower head all wrinkly. His wax gland is very sticky too which leads her to think it's hormones but he's three years old so she's not sure so asking origin vets

It is essential to know whether he is urinating - if he isn’t, then it is a serious problem - so yes, I would separate so you can be sure.

Make sure that you follow the correct procedure for reintroducing them when the time comes (neutral space etc)

He's going in separate box overnight to see if he's weeing. He's eating and drinking as normal so I'm hoping the wee in cage is his aswell as cage buddy

I really don’t have any experience in this but I hope all is well and he will be okay x

She mentioned it may be worth having him neutered if no improvement but I'm not sure that's the answer?
Eating loads and demands for food are normal lol. Fridge door opens and
I really Dont know, it could be an idea the vet has, but will find out for sure from other vets maybe
