hello everyone-1 of my piggies has been ill and we picked her up from vedra last week (did other post re that) but since we have got her back we are having terrible trouble getting her back with the other girls its her being stroppy not the others shes really swinging her handbag around and we have had to take her out again for the sake of the other 3 ladies :'( do you have any good advise about getting her back in with the group?
thanks everyone
what exactly is happening? just some chasing and nipping and teeth chattering (which looks horrible to humans but isnt that tough a situation for piggies) or are they actually attacking each other, to the point that there are wounds or blood flowing?
I have always found bathing all piggies and then letting them run together works when you are trying to mix a group. Also lots of food can be a good distraction
Alternatively, create a partition or a cubes of cubes and let them get all the 'nastiness' out of the way before trying again.
I'm sure if she's been with them once, she'll go back again, good luck!
Ok thanks guys-its just chasing and nipping and teeth chattering so can i take it thats that is not really bad? i will put her back in now and see what happens-just been to the farm shop to get them lots of veggies :-*
Big pile of food usually works wonders! Until they've finished it! I've separated the pen into 2 and put existing ones in one bit and 'new' one in the other bit, then swapped them over - they'll all use the same areas and it seems to work as their smells will merge, they'll get used to the other ones smell without the guinea actually being there to have a go at. Also sit her on your lap with one of the others - they won't dare fight on your lap! You need to re-introduce her as soon as you can but you could just try putting the least dominant one in with her - may not be very brave on her own! Hope this helps. Good luck.
