Ive at last found a cheap cage for the girls thats huge - thank you zooplus!

It arrived this morning and ive lined it with newspaper and some hay and popped them both in - very nervous still and being outside has done them no good whatsoever! So the girls are now in until next spring, but bummer what a palace they are in.

Looking forward to them settling in, they are in my kitchen and I cant wait for wheeks and pop corning to start. Is there anyway I can settle them in and make them more comfortable or make their home more fun?

Here are some pics, would appreciate any feedback!

That looks great I bet they love it.

If it was me, I would raise the cage up off the ground. Only because they dont like being hovered over do they, makes them nervous being prey animals.

Other than that looks fab!

Oh and have they got a pigaloo or something to hide in?

Looks good, first_time_piggie_mum has gave great advice regarding a pigloo, maybe 2 so they have somewhere seperate to go if they feel they need space..

I havnt got a pigaloo, but shall invest in some at the weekend. I shall have to have a think what to raise them off the ground with? hmm....

Oooo what a fabulous huge cage it looks so roomy too -such lucky piggies! :))

i agree with the other comment if you raise the cage a little off the floor it'll stop them scattering when you enter the room/go near the cage and help them settle in and become more friendly :) perhaps a cardboard box for them to hide in too?

Otherwise a brilliant cage! :)

Aww its similar to mine. I use fleece bedding at the bottom and trap it with the bottom of the cage so that they can't pee or poop in the corners. I put newspaper and an old towel underneath. I have a cat bed too thats hooded and they love that. I would raise it off the floor if you can :)

You could lay a towel across half of the top of the cage. It's surprising how much more relaxed piggies are when they have a roof. :)

Lovely piggies btw. x)

It looks good :) Also my piggies are flat on the ground and they really don't mind it at all. Although if yours are nervous then it may be better to have them up higher?
Some tunnels and plastic stool or hideys would make it more fun for the pigs :)

Thank you for the great ideas, I will get them sorted this week, I really want them to be happy. They havent had much of a life in the hutch outside as it dont have a run attached and I had to lift them in and out and stressed themk out hugely.

Hoping this cage will make life better and I can make them more used to 'us' and thus making their little lives easier.

My piggies' cage was always on the floor, but they were in our dining room so not a lot of movement was going on around them, & they always ignored the hoover a bit like my OH :):(|)

I do have a cheap Ikea coffee table that's the length of my cage so will probably use that as a stand if I get anymore piggles :))

I may even so if there is a stand I can get, but ive put a make shift cardbox in with a hole cut out in it, fifi prefers hding under the hay but lola has gone in and is gently wheeking.

My guinea pigs are raised off of the ground by an old chest.

You could use anything really that will hold weight to hold their cage off of the floor. A small table, two chairs, anything really. =)
