Hi I'm new...soooo i don't really know how this website works.
i have two piggies called rose and magda, i want to get another one, will the new one fight with the others?

Hello welcome to the forum.
There are 'sticky' sections which have the most commonly asked questions, guides to boar and sow behaviour etc. which are always a good place to start.
If you have two girls you can introduce another girl or a neutered male. There may be some squabbles over who gets to be the boss but all being well they should be ok. You will of course always get the exception where they just don't like it each other.

Hi and welcome!

Trios can be very tricky, as they are the constellation you are most likely to end up with an outsider problem more often than not!

I would recommend to either go straight up to four girls and introduce a bonded couple of sows of a different age/size to avoid major dominance issues and outsider problems (as each of them has already got a friend) or think about adding a neutered boar. How old are your girls? Younger sows will usually accept a boar, but you may have problems with older, dominant girls - they may not like to share the leadership with a boar! You will usually know within 20 minutes of the first meeting whether a boar has been accepted ot not.

I have dated my two 3 year old cataract sows at a rescue that has neutered boars with great success last summer. It was well worth the extra effort to make sure that they all gel! Thankfully, for once they liked my favourite candidate and we came back home with boar #1. If not, I would have made the rounds of all rescues within my reach that have already neutered boars... rolleyes

Whereabouts are you?

I have a trio of girls and a quartet of girls. The quartet get on better than the trio even though they haven't been living together as long. Having three does sometimes leave you with an outsider but thankfully my two bossy girls, Lexi and Charlotte, take turns cuddling with Kizzy. Often I find them one on each side of her but almost never next to each other. I am planning to get my trio a neutered boar to keep the peace between Lexi and Charlotte.

This page is great
