Hello all, VeggieChompers here with Guinness (almost 3yrs) and Rumplewicks (1yr).

First of all I'd just like to say thanks so much for all the answers you guys supply. I know I don't always respond (sorry!) but I really really do appreciate the responses.

So, that said, on to my latest concern! Guinness just ten minutes ago started making a throwing-up noise/motion. I know they cannot vomit, and sometimes they hiccup when they eat to fast, but I'm not sure he was eating. He's acting normal now: active, noisy. He ate an experimental piece of hay I offered him, so I'm so far inclined to believe that he's fine, but I was wondering if that's a reasonable assumption, and why this might have happened.

Thanks guys!

My guineas sometimes make a choking noise when they try to eat veggies too fast - silly boys! Not sure if this is the same noise you're describing...

Is he doing it often? Or just occasionally? As Shiny has said it could be an eating to fast thin, Megan often does this choking type noise.

I've run around the room panicking when i've heard this type of noise only to see the greedy little pigs carrying on stuffing their faces as if its the last time they will any fresh veggies.

Could also be what is known as "heaving hiccups" - where the whole body violently shoots forward and they look like they are going to throw up.

Agree heartily on this. It's scary to witness if you're a new owner, I remember almost having a coronary the first time one of my piggies did it.
It is usually followed by them coughing and then carrying on about their business whilst us mere slaves take deep breaths to remain in this world ?/
This may help ease any worries you have:

Thanks so so so much everyone. I think he must have just been eating too fast. He is fine now!:)
