The last few days our guinea pig has had an occasional, what sounds like a hiccup. Other than that he is eating, drinking and going #1 and 2 as normal, and still looking happy and running about, and popcorns when we let him loose on the floor. He's about 3 and a half now is he just getting old? For today I have not given him fresh veggies for sort of a bland diet (hay and pellets only, he always barely touches the pellets and much prefers the hay) just in case that would help. I wish our vet in town took guinea pigs! Though, I have a feeling it is giving me much more anxiety than it is the pig.

Hi, is your piggy hiccupping/coughing fairly soon after his dinner? In this case, he could just eat too greedily and swallow air when he does so. That is not uncommon. As your boy is still very lively and full of energy, I would not worry at all!

Thank you for your quick reply Wiebke! He always seemed to binge eat, maybe it is catching up to him! :)

It is not uncommon. perhaps you can try to give him smaller portions a bit more often so he can't binge quite as badly?

I agree he would be a good candidate for portion control, thanks again for the suggestion!

Helga (the rascal in my profile pigture) is an absolute devil for this, so I sympathise - it's such a weird noise, you can't help but start panicking!
