What else can I do for my pigs this FREEZING! winter. And it’s only november 😭

They live in a garage so they are atleast protected from winds/weather.
They have an abundance of hay to eat and to snuggle into. Each hutch has two heats pads, it would be more but unfortunately they are quite expensive. These get heated every evening and morning.

Thankfully the hay works as an insulator, as when I pig a piggy up after laying in hay their stomachs are also roasting!

There is insulation around most sides of the hutches and water bottles are covered with old socks and are changed daily. I feed lukewarm water (on the cool side) as I hope that it will take longer to go freezing cold!
Overnight one hutch has a blanket over the front and a proper wool sleeping blanket on the “sleep” section and the other hutch has one blanket over the front and a towel over the sleeping section. I am planning to find another blanket for them, but the sleeping bag stays with Winston as he is an old man now and on his own.

Is there anything else I can do? Getting a heater just isn’t much use and i’m so scared it will start a fire.

Thanks :)

I’ve owned guinea pigs and kept them ‘outside’ for 6 years now and it never gets easier over the cold months.

I just always feel so bad.
Thanks for your reply, i’m glad to hear i’m atleast doing the best i can given the situation x
