Himalayan Transformation

Hes lovely😁. My black and ginger abbysinian boar developed two white stripes down under his chin, it looks like very long teeth

What a gorgeous boy.
He reminds me so much of a Himalayan boy I had as a child. He was very special and still occupies a place in my heart

I read somewhere that the dark colouring is stronger when they are happy and healthy and fades when they are stressed, so you must be doing everything right :)
Our Piggle is a bit himalayan but she's mostly blonde dutch colouring so she just looks to have dirty ears and nose and feet...

He definitely is a very happy piggy. His and his boarfriend popcorn around their cage. I've heard with some himis they can get the darkening in certain temperatures. His dad has muddy parts on his back but he's outside a lot. Mine is inside

Aeons ago I learned in my degree that Himi/Siamese, and other similar features that develop over time to young creatures, are a function of their environment. I think I remember (long time ago) that Siamese cat colouring is a response to the temperature at which they are exposed at a critical point of their development.

I'd be interested to know whether what I was taught 30 plus years ago has now been dismissed as bunkum or whether it has stood the test of time!

Lovely! It's so fascinating how it takes the points time to develop.

Yes the person who runs the guinea pig show said it takes 5-6 months for them to fully develop. It's been so gradual I didn't really notice the difference. But side by side I can definitely see it

Just a reminder @Mumofpiggies that talk about showing is, like intentional breeding, a topic that is not permitted on this forum.
