so i got a new cage today. i wasn't really looking for one but saw a second hand one hardly used for a total bargain so nabbed it while i could and its great! its a metre long and half a metre deep and its on wheels with great access a second level and ramp etc and I'm super chuffed with it!

but now to decide what to do with it!

i currently have my 4 piggies in a double decker c&c cage... arthur and oblivion are at the top of the 2x5 C&C and are fine as they are but colossus and nemmy are in a 2x5 underneath with a divide down the middle and a small loft space each as they don't get on but miss each other when apart!

so i figure my options are effectively as follows...

I could move nemmy into my new cage and that would give him more space and colossus will have the 2x5 to himself giving him more space too - however the downside of this is i think they would be more lonely not seeing each other.

now that does give me space for getting them a companion each but they are not neutered and i would have like to get them a girl each instead of more boys to hopefully reduce any more falll outs. so how depressed would they get separated until i can save enough to neuter them it would prob be a few months including healing time. also they are quite bullyish whenever they are with each other or my other two boys they dominance hump and refuse to ever stop. i once tried putting colossus with my smallest pig oblivion and although oblivion didnt fight back and just kept running away colossus would just not stop humping him and following him around etc and nemmy is exactly the same...

will this bully behaviour be better if they were with younger girls perhaps? they are both about 18 months old now. or would older girls be better? I'm just not sure what the best pairing for them is.

alternatively i could leave them as they are and get 2 totally diff piggies (but seems a bit mean to me not give them those two more space if i can)

i really really want a long haired piggy (peruvian type?) and a frizzy sheep looking piggy (texel/rex i think?) and thought if i could find friends to go with my two that match it would be the most perfect solution.

so my main concerns really are will they get lonely if i move nemmy to the new cage even though it gives them more space because they wont be able to see each other as well?

will their bully behaviour make them parable with any other piggy?

and whats the best type of piggys to attempt to pair them with boy girl old or young? (ideally i wanna find them through a rescue)

A 100X50cm cage is just about adequate for a single piggy but it is very much scraping the bottom; it's too small for two.

I use my old cage bottom as a walk-in hay tray for my big group.

oh ok ill prob sell it on then if its to small to be any use then

Aww thats a shame, i use my cage for indoor quarantining (they are usually in the shed in their hutch) when they are unwell or when it's bitter cold outside, or firework night etc.thats a double decker 3ft x 1.5ft i think, bought mine from a charity shop for £10.... too good to miss really!
or maybe an extension for your c&c's?

Good luck with your decision! xx
