my Elsa has a hoarse sounding squeak, she usually has a pretty loud one and it is kind of weird sounding today. Could it be a sign of an illness? She just gave birth a week ago, she doesn’t have any other symptoms that I’m aware of. She is eating and drinking and her eyes and nose look normal.

Hiya. I’m no expert I’m afraid but I would think it’s not right & the best thing to do is to take her to the vets to get checked out.
How are her babies? x

Please take her to your vet, she doesn’t sound right. Best to be safe and get her checked out, paws crossed for her x

The babies are great and growing like crazy, Elsa is a great mommy!

I guess I’ll see how she sounds and looks in the morning. I just got them in December and they have never been to the vet. I did some research when Elsa was pregnant and I think I found one that has guinea pig experience

I would not worry much about a hoarse voice without any other indications. See a vet if you notice any other symptoms that point towards a URI, but she will hopefully find her voice again soon.

Thank you, I was getting worried with everyone telling me to get her to a vet. I tried rattling the food bag to get her to wheek this morning but she was busy nursing her babies so she just perked her ears up at me.

Unfortunately they are all at least an hour away
Oh dear :( Paws crossed it’s not serious and she finds her voice again :luv: Sorry if I worried you by say to go to the vets. If I’m ever in doubt, I like to get it checked out ;) Sounds like she has her paws full with baby duties at the moment :wub:xx
