Hi everyone,
I have only had my two boars for two days now (Bert & Ernie) and although they both love their veggies, I find that Ernie is more confident than Bert and will come out and eat the food whilst the other stays inside. Is that normal? I don’t witness any signs of bullying and I tend to put food in the little hidey house for Bert and he does eat it. Maybe it’s because he is generally shy and nervous and Ernie is more confident

it sounds as I’d expect to see from new babies getting to know their surroundings and each other.
As long as they are both getting their share I wouldn’t be concerned. Feeding (hay and veggies) in two separate spots is always advisable with boars in any event. Hopefully Bert will gain his confidence over time, but some piggies just remain shy all the time.
(My dex is very confident and is always out and about and happy to run around me. He also sleeps in the open. Popcorn is much more nervous, runs for a hidey when he sees me and only comes out when I’ve stayed still long enough that he thinks I’ve gone, always sleeps in a hidey with his eyes open)

Bert seems to be very much like Popcorn. He comes out to eat, drink etc but when he sees someone he runs back in lol. Yeah, I placed some veggies down one end and the rest in the hidey house so I know he is getting something. They have an abundance of hay so that is not an issue and I even saw them sharing some veggies. When I had to pick them up yesterday Bert kept squeaking and Ernie just played dead so I don't think Bert is going to be much of a handled guinea pig

It is quite cute to watch sometimes because Bert just seems to follow Ernie wherever he goes lol and comes out when he comes out
