Her Nibship
Teenage Guinea Pig
Whenever we go away a family member who lives just over the road looks after our 5 piggies. Its great, as he pops over several times a day so we can relax and enjoy our holiday knowing that the gang are well looked after. He has been waiting for knee replacement surgery (the result of a lifetime of running...I'm ok there then!!) for ages and has just been given a date...4 days before we go on holiday in August! Now, although I'm really pleased for him, that he'll be getting sorted after all this time, the selfish bit of me thinks, "Oh no - the piggies!" as I'm guessing that knee relacement surgery and looking after 5 wheekers won't be compatable! I've found details of a few boarders in my area that take piggies, that I'm planning on contacting with a view to visiting, but I would REALLY appreciate any feedback - good or bad - that anyone can give me about boarders they have used in the East Midlands area, especially Leicestershire. I'm already getting rather stressed about the thought that they might have to go into boarding: what if the hutches aren't disinfected thoroughly enough after the last visitors? What if there's a heatwave and they're not checked on often enough? What if they can't settle in a strange place? Basically, what if they don't look after them just as I would?! I am seriously thinking about sending my husband and daughter off on holiday and me staying at home to look after the piggies! Maybe I'm over-reacting. Maybe there will be another solution. I only found out yesterday, so when I've calmed down abit perhaps I will be able to think rationally about possible solutions. Sorry for the ramble, folks! Any thoughts gratefully received!
