I know august is a few months away but we're off to Scotland so the gang will have to be looked after. Having 7 to sort out is a bit of a nightmare. I don't know how slaves with larger groups manage. The 2 I'm fostering can go back to their previous slave for a week but I also have a trio, 2 of whom have health issues and 2 singles who wont bond. I'm looking for an excellent boarding service/ holiday home local to Plymouth. Does anybody have any recommendations. Many thanks. xx

I'm afraid I can't help you on this one but would like to offer boarding for boarding in my area if anyone is interested. Or can anyone recommend someone trust worthy who knows about guinea pigs in the oxfordshire area?

No idea about boarding near you. Any chance of getting someone to house and piggy sit? Otherwise-in the past I've paid one of our vet nurses to come in and tend to my lovelies. It's worked well as they know what they are doing and pop in on way to work and way home, do the meds and cleaning etc. just an idea.

This is a long shot but I think some of the people who run dog walking services also come round to people's homes to feed/clean etc... other kinds of pets as a house sitting service during holidays. Might be a start to ask someone with that kind of company if they know about anyone. I found a person to look after my piggies last summer holiday by looking online. Good luck :)

I second asking dog walkers.. I am a pet carer (unfortunately in the Midlands!), I love my small animal visits and boarding, but also offer dog walking etc as well. Many have strong links with other pet carers local to them as well if there's a service they don't offer :) Hope you can find someone soon. I found it to be a nightmare to get someone I trusted to care for my small animals while in was away :(

Hi, I can offer boarding for guinea pigs, single ones and groups of up to 8! Any larger groups will be boarded in my brand new extension built just for small animals......bunnies and piggies. Heating, double glazed window, Beatrix Potter prints on the wall, blind, radio and very soon...even a tv. Little ones can either have access to floor space, or 4' x 2' x 2' hutches, or 6' x 2' x 2' hutches or these can be opened out to make huge........10' x' 2' x 2' hutches.

Any furry friends with 'special needs' are most welcome too. I have a wealth of experience in caring for any which are poorly, disabled or have behavioural problems.

I am not very active on this forum, but I am a Forum Buddy on Rabbits United forum....aka Mrs. Bunnykins. www.hoppy-holidays.co.uk Many RU members have used my boarding facilities over the years and continue to do so. I started up my business in 2002 and fortunately it has gone from strength to strength. Oh before I forget though......I am fully booked for the first two weeks in August. Otherwise there are spaces for other dates. I do offer outdoor boarding to, the largest accommodation are my 8' x 2' x2' hutches which are double hutches which have ramps and can be made into one huge double hutch. For more details and photos, have a look on the small animal boarding website, click on Worcestershire...and up pops Hoppy Holidays.

If anybody has any concerns about me and what I have to offer, I completely understand as I am such a newbie on here, but having said that, Alice Chamberlain who runs Windwhistle Warren in Gloucestershire knows me very well, as does Tracey who runs Rabbit and Guinea Pig boarding, used to be Rabbit and Guinea Pig Welfare, in Rugby. I am sure that if you wanted to check me out, they wouldn't mind at all. Ultimately......we all want the best for our furry families, at home and away.

I am based in Worcestershire, so pretty central to many places.

Perhaps I can help.

Hi @Midge&Panda we have an excellent pet sitter, very near to us. When we only had a couple of piggies we used to take them to Hutches rescue, but as our lot grew into 11 at present, we though it would be a better idea to leave them at home and have them professionally pet sat. If you go onto the http://www.narpsuk.co.uk/ website you can search for pet sitters in your area, with ones specialising in small animals. As you have some time you can make sure you get the right sitter for your piggies..

To give you idea what we get for our £5:00 / day.

Three visits / day to check our piggies - Feed veggies twice / day, nuggets once. Top up water and hay as necessary. Also will administer meds if required for a small additional charge.
We have all our piggies meals pre made and in the fridge- in marked containers.

Our sitter is a registered Vet nurse, has all details of our piggies including meds if required.

Lisa & Ali.. x

Thanks for the advice and suggestions fortunately the problem is now sorted. I had a look at the rescue locator and found 'Norman Gorman' guinea rescue. They also offer holiday boarding. So the gang are packing their suitcases for sunny Cornwall for 10 days in August
