Hi
We recently went on holiday for a week and some friends kindly offered to look after our two male guinea pigs.
We did not realise the trouble this would cause. They have females and although they didn't meet each other it caused our well bonded boars to fight.

We have finally resolved the problem after weeks of worry and following lots of advice and now they are again happy together in a new huge cage and have two of everything.

My problem is that we are away for over two weeks in the summer and I don't know what to do with them. I have 2 friends with guinea pigs and both have females. I could ask someone to come in and feed them but then they would have little or no time outside their cage in the run and that is not only cruel but also they would I am sure begin fighting again.

Is there something like a cattery but which looks after guinea pigs? I would worry that there may be females there too though so would they be kept well away from any smells?! I would want somewhere where they would get time to run about on grass like they do now!

Does anyone know if any such guinea pig sanctuary/holiday home exists?!
I live in Leeds.

Thank you!

There certainly are boarding services for small animals. You have a very reputable rescue on your doorstep, it might be worth asking if they can recommend anywhere? http://www.bramleycaviesrescue.com
