Hi, we are going away for half term, in our motorhome. We were going to leave my 4 guinea girls at home with my friend coming in daily to care for them .
However, one of my guinea pigs is on medication at the moment, and I'd like to take her with us.
My question is, would I be able to take just two of the four guineas on holiday, and leave two at home? Or would this break their bond?

There is not a clear cut answer here - really it comes down the pigs. It really depends how their hierarchy works and where in it the pigs you are removing are. They will work to establish dominance and new hierarchies as their own pairs and would then have to reestablish again as a quartet and that is where there may be issues

You would have to carry out the proper neutral territory rebonding for several hours when you got home (ie you could not just get home and put the two you take with you straight back into the normal cage) to allow them to decide.

Fingers crossed they’d be ok to go back together and would be happy to see each other again but the reality is it’s not something anyone could completely guarantee.

Thank you for your reply. I think I will take all of them with us! I think that will save a lot of trouble!
