So last night while sorting the piggies out with their veg, pellets and hay we had a massive and very unexpected breakthrough.

When I'm putting the pellets in daisy will come running over and take them out my fingers, sometimes Donald does too. However this time I offered one to Donald and Lily wondered up to me and pulled it from my fingers!

For those that don't know, Lily was a pets at home adoption centre piggy. She had been purchased from p@h at 6 weeks, placed in a hutch with a ramp, fell off and broke her leg and was returned to the shop as "faulty goods". The store is busy so she had only been handled to Medicare and when I adopted her at 15 weeks (nearly 2 years ago) she screamed the shop down at being handled. She is still a terrified piggy and the closest we've come is eating larger pieces of veg from our hands so this was completely out the blue.

While talking away I had to keep telling myself "don't react Kelly", "don't freak out", "let her feel it's normal" :lol!:

So please, if you have a scared piggy, persevere and you will get there eventually

Love stories like this! It's so rewarding! Even though Lois and Laine have never been all that scared, just usual moving fears, the first week or so, even if I moved suddenly in my room they would freak out, now they don't care at all, is so nice when you see their personalities grow and change as you spend time with them 😊

That's lovely to read. One of my pigs has been terrified since I got her.(she was a pets at home adoption piggie)she's definitely getting better though, she will now walk over slowly for food and take it from my hand whereas before she would hide if I was putting food in the cage.

That’s lovely news and that patience and love can overcome even the worst starts in life. You have brought her round and this trust she has in you will grow x

She really is the most beautiful piggy. It's lovely that she is starting to trust you after the awful start she had in life. 😀

Beautiful piggy and so lovely to hear that your love and patience is winning through.
Hugs.xx

Fantastic news! It feels amazing when a scaredy pig shows a bit of trust in you doesn't it @Lady Kelly. I had a pig called Gip years ago that hated everything and everyone. It wasn't until he was 5 that he came to me. It was the best feeling.
