I guess every rescue centre would be different but I was just wondering about home checks.

I'm not in a position for another piggy just yet but I am just being curious really as this is the channel I would go down next time.

How long do home checks tkae to complete. Just what are they assessing? Is it a home inspection, person/family inspection. Is it nerve wracking. What are your experiences of your home check. Just being nosey really and wanting to make a few mentl notes for when the time comes.

Hey... ive never had a home check done but i guess they would inspect the house... and where you keep the pigs... perhaps they would look at the pigs to see their condition... what you feed them and they would probably question you about alot of stuff like that... I'm not too sure coz ive never had one but thats my guess :)

Why not just ask them what it involves. In all honesty I think they just come out and check the size of the animals accomadation and then ask you a few questions on how you would care for them. There is no need to worry about it. I am sure one of the rescue persons would tell you what they do.

When I homecheck I ask to see the cage, house/igloo, toys etc to make sure they are suitable and if there are other animals I have a look at how they are being kept too as its a good marker of how piggies will be cared for!

Most of it though is a good chat about food, bedding, medical care etc etc to check that potential owners know how to give the very best care to their piggies.

Not scary at all really - I've had a fair few done myself and have done lots now without many hitches at all.

I imagine it'd just be like an adoption home check on a smaller scale. o_o

I was home checked about 2 wks ago.  The lady wanted to see where the piggy would be living, what bedding i used, how often i cleaned.  Would the piggy be living inside or outside.  What food i fed, what vet did i use & if their whole environment would be safe (i have 3 dogs).

More or less what Kate (starshine) has said :)

but we had 2 cats before so
