I am hopefully having my home visit tomorrow any advice as I am not sure what to expect or what questions they will ask. :)

Re: Home visit tomorrow!

Good luck, not that you will need it, I am sure you will pass with flying colours. Let us know how it goes. O0

Re: Home visit tomorrow!

had one myself last year when i rehomed maisy, they came in, looked at the hutch and run , that was it no questions, 5 minutes and all done.
I am getting Charlie next sat from the rspca and i didn't need a home check, which baffled me a bit. Good Luck

Re: Home visit tomorrow!

Well after telling me they were coming today and would ring this morning I have heard nothing! :(

I am a very impatient person I want them to come now as I want to know! :tickedoff:

Re: Home visit tomorrow!

when we got my cat simba from the RSPCA there said there would do a home viste and there still not come yet and that was like 5/6 years ago

but saying that we has had 2 cats befoe simba (not form rspca)

Re: Home visit tomorrow!

Good luck, i'm sure it will all go well.
They usually just check to see where the guinea pig will be living.

Re: Home visit tomorrow!

Well I have just rang the rspca and they dont have anything to do with the home checkers so they have to fax through a message asking why no-one has called. Anyway Digby is being 'done' on wednesday and I collect on friday, I didnt even know this until I found out by asking what was happening!

I am a little excited now oh I do hope he will be ok!

Re: Home visit tomorrow!

I sure he will be fine, can't wait for pictures. O0

Someone said on another site a lot of rescues dont do homechecks for small animals or even cats/kittens anymore...

Think that was me....my BF used to work at the RSPCA (for 7 years) so he knows more than anyone what goes on there and he told me a few weeks ago that the Radcliffe on Trent RSPCA don't do homechecls for cats and kittens. This doesn't mean all RSPCA's aren't doing homechecls though! Just this particular one ;)

Re: Home visit tomorrow!

Well even after the dogs home contacted the home checkers no one bothered to call! So I guess everything will still go to plan and I will collect on friday! Hubby is getting a bit worried about how much Digby is going to cost us so we have had a little tiff about it and I am feeling a bit crappy! I hope it doesnt end up costing more than 45 I think hubby will have a fit!

Well as I have said on a few other threads I am only going to pay 25 for him castration included! O0 So hubby is over the moon, he rang them to ask what the cost was and about the voucher but they dont do them and they use a private vet but 25 is better than 45! We will now be having home check tomorrow night at 8pm all being well! gosh I dont think my girls have ever been cleaned out as much its every other day from top to bottom as they are soooo messy and the boys are great they use two places to wee and poo so no trouble there!

That's great news, let us know what happens with the homecheck. Good luck even though you won't need it. ;)

O0 O0 O0 O0 Home check went really well. The lady was really nice she was very impressed with my cages she said this is only the second home she has seen with great cages she even suggested I could have more piggies in them (hubby was not impressed by this coment) and then she spotted my runs and was even more pleased so I think it went well!

I have said I am willing to foster piggies and she was pleased with this and said she would tell the dogs home. Only one thing that confused me was she said I can tell them I have home checked but I cant give them any details of your set up etc why is this surely she should say I have enough space and that my piggies are well looked after??

I don't know, I suppose since you have passed the homecheck it means you already have suitable accommodation and that you care for your guineas well. Another person may have to come and check if you are suitable to foster. ? :)

WOO HOO that's great news love O0 O0
I wouldn't worry about the foster part either, i'm sure that you'll have to go down another track to do that O0
Awwwww a new furbaby for the household, can't wait to see the piccies :smitten: :smitten:
