Doeylicious
Adult Guinea Pig
Today Honey finally decided she was ready to give birth.
She had two beautiful babies, one bright ginger and dark agouti, the other blackish dark agouti kind of colour.
Little gingery one was doing well, wandering about, found mum's teats etc.
But Little Blackie, as we christened her (we think it was a her) not so good...she tried to move but was shaky, her back legs seemed wrong, Honey tried and tried but eventually gave up.
I rang my wonderful vet who said bring them straight in, my amazing OH risked points on his license to pick us up and dash us down there. But sadly we weren't fast enough, and Little Blackie passed on the way.
We have brought her home and she will be laid to rest next to Bubbles, my first ever guinea who I still miss to this day.
The other little one is doing well, wandering about with mum, has been to say hello to Whiskey and Noodles who are literally noses to the grill but they were a bit scary for her, and tried a bit of hay but didn't like it much! Bit too early to tell properly but the vet thinks she may well be a girl too, so we are going for this at the moment and will reasses next week. Mum is also doing well.
My first words as I left the vets in floods of tears were 'We are NEVER doing this again, why do people do this, how can they go through this again and again then advertise them on preloved for a fiver'
Popcorn free on Rainbow Bridge Little Blackie, I am so sorry I never got to know you
