Hooting Sound

My guinea pig is 4 and a half and today she started making this weird hooting sound but stoped when I picked her up she only seemed to be doing it when she was relaxed I gave her a piece of carrot which she ate but made a funny sound with her mouth like it sounded like a wet sound as she was chewing it but then the next couple of pieces she ate normal and fast as usual but I did notice later on she did more weird things with her mouth like she had saliva I'm her mouth but after that she has been fine for the rest of the day she hasnt stopped muching hay all day and she ate all her vegetables for dinner in her usual gobbling them all up fast lol
Has anyone experienced this with there piggies ?
 
I don't have experience with this, but from what I've read this could indicate a serious issue with the heart or lungs. Because piggies can decline to UTI so quickly, I advise to have your vet xray her chest ASAP. Best of luck and give us updates.

One off hooting is usually caused by a slightly blocked nose, which accounts for the vast majority of cases. By the sounds of it, some fluid may have backed up into girl's nose when she was having some swallowing issues and if necessary have her checked for something stuck at the back of her mouth/in her throat.
Keep an eye on your girl for the next days in case it was not just some temporary swallowing problem and see a vet asap if you notice any eating or swallowing problem again.

The heart problem related hooting that is making the rounds online, has to be persistent over a number of days and only happens in combination with other symptoms pointing towards heart problems. It is comparatively rare.
 
Thank you both for your comments she seems fine today so hopefully was a one of thing but as I know its going to play on my mind I have booked a vets appoitment for this afternoon at least they can check her over and give me peace of mind :) I'm such a worrier there my babies :)
