Hooting is normally a sign of a very slightly blocked nose (pollen, dust or just a little bit of snot) and is going to disappear within a few hours, usually after a sneeze. It is nothing whatsoever to worry about.

Hooting as a symptom for heart disease means that you have to get it persistently over a matter of weeks and in combination with other indicators of heart disease. To be honest, it is MUCH rarer than you'd think!
Sadly it is one of these dr*tted things that are making the rounds online and are causing panic attacks on a regular basis. :(

It can just be a sign of nasal irritation if it's a one-time or very infrequent thing. However, if it persists it's worth a vet checkup, as it can indicate an upper respiratory infection if it's an ongoing issue and can even be linked to heart issues in some cases.

This makes sense. I just switched from fleece to bedding not even 2 hours ago and they may just be stuffed up from it at first

I nearly had a heart attack the first time I heard one of my piggies hooting, they test our nerves at times don't they! Gotta love them though

Ours have a habit of diving head first into fresh piles of hay, I'm surprised ours don't hoot more often or get hay poke!
