We have five cages and they get spot cleaned twice a day. I'd been using the dyson, which was working fine, until I've killed it. We got a henry yesterday and it's rubbish. Jams all the time, has a bag etc etc. Anyway does anyone have anything that is bagless like the dyson, is large enough to go through a fair few cages before having to be empty and take the hay and poo that is thrown at it.

I need something that is easy to use, can take all of the above and isn't a £300 dyson.

Hmmm,
Let me have a think, there's one I know off but trying to remember the name of it. Not sure it's within your budget. Will come back.

Henry blocks?! I loooove Henry! I use mine without a bag and I suck everything up (including socks and a whole roll of black bags rolleyes)

I have a Henry too - it's fab! Def use without the bag though - but DO remember to use the filter! ;)

I hate Henry! He always used to lie on his back and twirl his wheels at me instead of doing his job. Now have a not-dyson-but-very-similar-and-much-cheaper Panasonic eco-max. Loads of room for hay and poos :))

I've got a Vax......gobbles up everything. :aJFBQ00147070110B:
Dyson and Henry both died after swallowing a couple of mouthfuls of hay, poo and dog hair!

I don't understand this! We use a Henry at work and I empty him every saturday...and there's always enough hair in there to knit another dog but he never blocks!

I have a earlex wet and dry best hoover ever for hoovering out hutches cages and never blocks up with hay .

We got both Dyson & Henry because they came so highly recommended for very heavy use in a multi animal household.
I was surprised they both died so soon but maybe I've just been unlucky and had a dodgy one each time?
Never had a problem with my Vax......ooooops, is that tempting fate? :o

:)):)):)) I do love the way you all refer to your "Henry's" as if they are people!

I've just killed my Dyson too so will be following this thread with interest. It's my spare (I have a miele cat and dog, but wouldn't dare to use it to clean up after the pigs!) and won't "suck" from underneath so I can only use the hose/nozzle which has been fine for the piggies. This week however it's started to make a strange noise and won't "suck" properly anymore. I've taken it apart and can't find any blockages so now I'm stumped!

I have an upright vacuum for the house and a pull-around-bagless contraption for the cages/hay/poop etc. It is a dewalt, very powerful and can eat ANYTHING! My hubby bought it through his work account so not sure if you can get them in stores, but it is amazing! :))

We've had our Henry for just over 20 years - he might have lost a bit of his oomph now,but still capable of sucking up anything we can throw at him and I never use bags - although you do need be careful if you dust off the filter as indoor dust clouds are no fun :))

I love my dysons,,but they do tend to get hay clogged in them. So I have started to use a dustpan and brush upstairs for the girls, and then I nip round with my little dirt devil on the floor. hey presto. Rest of the house is like a tip but guinea pigs are fine!

We had a henry at work too and anything more than a bit of fluff and it kicks up a right fussrolleyes.
I have a vax, its called a pet power 1 or something, grey and purple and i had it in the sale lasy new year for about £70, normally about £130 i think and I have to say it's knocked spots off my old dyson....

Progress update on Mr Henry.

Took out the bag and he is working wonders. One of the piggies (gertie), think there is nothing better than following him around the cage (she is the oldest at 4, so you'd think she would know better).

Happy piggie owner (however, just wish they would stop pooing as much, it's getting silly now)

Hoover? Oo-er, I try to avoid using mine altogether ha ha!
But I do have one:)p
I used to have an AquaVac which worked pretty well on picking up cat hair, hay etc. but I broke that and couldn't afford to buy an expensive one to replace it. So I got a cheap bagless one from Argos which is OK but needs emptying really often. If I forget to empty it in time it has to work really hard and overheats, then I have to loll about for a few hours while I'm waiting for it to cool down.

See, Henry is great! The Henry at work is possessed - never goes where you want him to but he is abused on a daily basis!

Henry also stands up pretty well to my dog attacking his nozzle!

My Henry has had to put up with having my cat using his hose as her scratchpost for the last 12 years, and she even threw up on him once rolleyes - tough little things aren't they!:))

Hmmm we have a Charles or George, the blue one that sucks up water too, wonder if we can use that without the bag. Will give it a go.
