Today is very exciting; the new piggy that I'm adopting should be here in about 3.5 hours! Horaldo was part of a bonded pair, but sadly his friend passed away, so lucyspoon has had him castrated and now he's going to move in with my girlies, well in a couple of weeks anyway!

My OH is rushing around to finish the huge pig table that all three will live in, but until that's sorted they can live side by side in their neros!

So, any advice on how to keep this guy happy and entertained until he can meet his girlies? Or any general advice on how to start the introduction process, perhaps through the bars?

A very excited and bouncy,

Pippa

Hi Pippa,

Congrats on the new arrival! I'ver just bonded my neutered boar with 2 girls for 4 weeks until he healed from his op he had been at rescue for 2 weeks already. I had him in his own cage so he was able to see other pigs (not his two girlfriends though as Maggie is inside and Bupu was part of another group but I had to remove her as her 2 sisters were bullying her.)

I bonded in a neutral area and it has taken a week for them to really settle in together. Lots of squeaking and playful activity from them. They should get on great but don't worry if it isn't instant love they will settle down!

Good luck! Photo's please! :(|)

hi I'm not sure on introductions with sows and a boar all i have are boys:)
but i have Boris who is lone right now and i entertain him by lots of toys, special treat games like hiding little bits of apple around the cage so he has to find them, lots of extra hugs, toilet paper rolls with hay in them, tunnels or obstacles are also good for boredom;) i hope it all goes well xxxxx

So Horaldo, now renamed Herbert, is here and what a big friendly boy he is!

At the moment he's outside, along side the girls eating grass. I'm honestly not sure if they've noticed each other yet, but I'm sure they will in time.

There's a few changes that I need to make before bringing him in tonight, like removing the wood shavings he's been living on and replacing with carefresh, as well as giving him more enrichment, but all in all he seems like a very happy, well loved guinea pig!

He's so friendly that I've decided whenever I'm home and he's not close to the girls he can come out and either sit on my lap or on my computer table. I know I'm no guinea pig but it's got to be better than him being completely alone for the next 2.5 weeks!

Oh pics will follow soon!

Pippa

Welcome to your new home and your instant human slave, Herbert! And that is just the first girl whose heart who have conquered - just wait until you meet the rest!

Can't wait to see pics of your affable boy!

I remember Horaldo, was he the guy listed in the Rehoming section? He was gorgeous. Congrats!
