Sent you a message on Facebook with something that may help the GI tract that has been passed onto me. Is she still on Zantac?

I just caught up with this after you mentioned having a hectic time... sorry I missed it.

You and Fudge are so strong and she's such a little fighter. Both mine are having so many issues right now too, especially Toast. One week alone I was at the vets 4 times so I completely sympathise with you as to how emotional and stressful it is.
Fudge is such a beautiful pig and you clearly have such a bond with her. I really hope she's starting to feel better now. It's like she refuses to give up, she's so amazing x
 
Fudges poos returned to cowpats during the night and she subsequently felt rubbish this morning probably due to losing fluids. It keeps following this pattern timing wise, but we cant put our finger on the cause as all her meds are given more than just once a day.

She has had a metacam injection to ease the stomach cramps and painful defecation- metacam isnt ideal but at least the injection means its bypassing the stomach.

The vet thinks fudge has a bad case of inflamation in her guts, apparantly her cecum ?sp is working overtime and sounds like a washing machine! Hence the diarrohea. Iv upped her tree bark powder in the hope it slows it down to a normal pace. However.. Normal poos cause bleeding and pain. The vet fears there is some form of growth/polyp that is being nicked by normal stools and causing pain and bleeding, however if she does the vet thinks it must be tiny as they cannot feel it or pick it up on ultrasound.

She is now also off the septrin until/if her culture results show that she needs it. She hopes this will help her gut flora return to normal and ease the diarrohea. The metacam should hopefully reduce any possible swelling/inflamation so hoping to see less pain/blood if and when normal stools return.

Back to the vets tomorrow morning at the same time for another injection of metacam and small bolus of subcut fluids to replace that lost by diarrohea.

Still just a waiting game until we have answers before i can decide whats best for her. Its difficult as they still cant tell me if this will rectify itself or not :-(
 
Just catching up as not been around much lately as very busy at the moment. I am so sorry Adelle to hear you and Fudge are having such a hard time. Sending you both hugs and thinking of you.
 
I dont want to tempt fate.. But i think my girls gonna make it! She was great overnight, had a small bleed when normal poos started at 10is last night.. But no bleeding since and weve had 17 hours of normal poos! :yahoo:

Shes still a little gassy but gripe water has really eased it and soothed her cramps (they where waking her up from sleep bless her).

She had more metacam this morning, injection by the vet.. If she keeps inproving, its less likely to be a mass or anything sinister as its more looking like inflamation due to responding to that and the tree bark powder (its been excellent.)

She had 80ml of cc over the course of 24 hours yesterday as well as 60ml water- due to having normal bowel movements overnight, she was hydrated enough and didnt need to stay in for fluids today.

She seems to be eating hay almost constantly and managing it fine, i was worried about her teeth as they have never been perfect but she managed to eat absolutely fine despite this, being off her food for a short while doesnt seem to have caused any problems thank goodness, shes been picking at camomile hay throughout which jas obviously helped (as well as helping soothe a sore tummy).

Iv opted for another injection tomorrow, as i dont want to jump on to oral metacam just yet until I'm sure there is no more bleeding.

She has been so up and down so I'm trying not to get too excited.. But she is back to her usual cheeky self and fairly active, taking syringe feeds, hay, pellets and mint leaves on her own accord.

This girl is something else! A true fighter.

I'm really glad things are getting better at last! She's a fighter, and also really lucky of having such a wonderful mum! :hug:
 
Crunchie despises the centre of the cucumber.. If she reaches it whilst working her way through the slice, regardless of how much of it shes eaten, she throws it in disgust and leaves it. Mum would then have to pick off the non poisoness, acceptable parts of the cucumber before disposing of the offensive, disgusting centre.. I now cut out the centre for an easy life!
