I'll get girls I thought! Its bound to be easier than boar bonding with Mr 'Top Pig' I am a PITA to bond.:hmm:

I would like to state for the record the following: -

Biscuit - removes the other's heads whilst in season - not too bad and really doesn't bother me.:D

Ziggy - mounts anything and everything - Jet gets the brunt but again manageable.

Binky - Oh my pig! :yikes: 450g of hormonal hot mess. Loud hormonal hot mess, She is loud anyway, she doesn't move unless she also squeaks, I want some sleep, because they are under my bedroom and Binky yesterday, rumble strutted everything and everyone - for hours. She was louder than Jet who is over double her weight, she chased everything, she yelled she squeaked, she growled, she rumbled, she mounted all day and all night :sly:. I couldn't hear the TV over it and I could hear it all night. Today she is looking angelic as if so say 'I don't know what all the fuss is about'. I'm at work for some sleep

That said I wouldn't change them for the world, I love all three of them (and Mr Smoochy) with all my heart.

Poor you!

:lol!:

Maia had very strong seasons when she was little - she'd corner Rosie and literally insert herself under him, and then nip him for just staying there confused.

Hello Oh my what a do. pls may I well I say I what I mean is could Me Kath and three girls join you in this. As you prob know we adopted these three Heidi. Cocoa. Chloedownloadfile-52.webpI've never had girls before only the late Pedro he was male. We had the girls nearly a week and know they been together for while so we took all three. . I'm being honest and don't know a lot about the ladies homos. But I'm learning.
We know Heidi is boss. She's lovely all three are. Heidi is 1st for nose rub 1st to food and now as they still settling in only been a week 1st to get excited when Slaves turn up.
But last couple days Heidi has approached the others wheneve and without warning licks eye of cocoa and trys to mate. Cocoa Chloe when approached by Heidi Squeek loud run away only to be chased by her as she growls away.
Little bit of get off includes not biting but heads together etc. It's annoying when say Cocoa in the hay enjoying herself when in jumps Heidi and a F1 race is on. Is this Normal pls. I'm not over worried but want to be sure. xx

Hi David, that is absolutely normal behaviour. Heidi is just exerting her 'top pig' status and Cocoa and Chloe are saying 'yes we know you are top pig we just want to be friends'. Biscuit is my top pig and the little ones do that to her. Jet is just the spanner in the works as he isn't top pig but at times when Biscuit isn't looking pretends that he is (he is neutered).

At the moment all my girls are quite placid! One group of 4 have been together forever and only occasionally does one chase another around when in season and it only lasts seconds.
Another group contains a boar and never any nonsense!
3rd group is my two choc agoutis and they are so laid back they never fuss each other!
Final group consists of the boar Oliver with the three youngsters - who are about 4 months old and only Katie Buttercup has shown signs of raging hormones! She rushed about squealing and nudging everyone else but only lasted a couple of hours!
Last but certainly not least in their group is darling Maisie who I rescued aged 7! Too old for any nonsense!

OMG sow hormones are the worst two and a half days EVER. Coco used to have really strong seasons and Patchy used to chase her all day trying to sniff her bum and Coco would be forever nipping her and rumbling, this went on for several months and now you would never know when she is in season she is so mellow mostly until Patchy annoys her. You would never know when Patchy was in season either she was so lovely and then all of a sudden Coco mellowed out and Patchy started having strong seasons, well she turned into a right little cow literally overnight and when she’s in season I feel like moving out, she rumbles all day and rumble struts, nips and projectile pees all over Coco but Coco doesn’t put up with her carry on for long and firmly puts her back in her place and then Patchy squeals the house down. Happy days...not :hb:

in the photo you posted all the girls look quite angelic! LOL
Yes that's the photo I received. Melted me big time. Pls see my thread for the way it happened. lol.

Thank you for the info. A perfect time for me to look at the forum and this came up great. It's seems aggressive but if it's the norm then ok. Last night Chloe pop out the hay cube for a wonder and the other two were very quick to realise freeee warm bed. lol. Cocoa won just but Heidi was miffed. x

Just couldn't leave her - didn't think anyone else would take her on at her age. She's a tiny, frail little girl but very feisty! By the time we'd left the town she'd eaten her way out of the cardboard box and my friend had to hold her on her knee for the 12 miles home!
She's not too good today, back on Baytril and Loxicom. x

I admire you very much for giving the girl some time. xx

Sow behaviour is fascinating. I adore sows. I know many keepers prefer boars as they have more “character” but sow behaviour and hierarchy are so entertaining to watch. They don’t fight like boars but they are seldom quiet or boring.

@David Pet Lover the girls are behaving entirely normally. They’ve had a change of house, cage and owners. They are just exploring their new surroundings and top pig Heidi is making sure that everyone knows she’s still The Boss. Chloe is a typical under pig. She shrieks and squeals in submission even when nothing is going on. She’s in no danger and is not unhappy. Cocoa is so laid back. She’s number 2 and Heidi regularly reminds her of it by power grooming (ears and eyes) and occasional mounting. Have a read of this fabulous thread about sow behaviour. It helps to explain what’s going on. I never find sows dull. Sow Behaviour

I totally agree, Jet is my smoochy bear, my partner in crime, my fellow fridge raider and always up for a cuddle or 500 cuddles. Biscuit is so dignified and solid, you know where you stand with her, at the moment she has a water bowl so she doesn't have to stretch up, when I fill it she dips her face in it then comes over for a rub, she just likes to hang out - but on her terms - and if you can provide a heat pad then she will happily heat coma by you for hours. Binky is the only piggy I have ever had who will sprawl out on me and sleep - Dozy used to curl up and sleep when I was upset but Binky is flat out legs out. Ziggy is mad bad and dangerous, she likes pig company over humans but is like a little jack in the box jumping out at me going surprise then running off. She is likely to take over as top pig when Biscuit goes.

I love the description of Ziggy as “mad, bad and dangerous” :lol!:. That would have accurately described our RB piggy Mollie who was often known as Mollie the Monster or Mad Mollie.

My current trio have all been spayed (amazingly all have had serious health issues) but we still get some dominance rumbling from time to time. Little Holly the scruffy aby is the top pig. She’s a nutter. Always thundering round the cage at a hundred miles an hour. Mabel has slotted in as number 2. Often they hang out together and are known as the gruesome twosome. Finally there is soppy Poppy. A big, deflated cushion of an under sow. She’s the oldest of them all, and the softest. She’s the one who fills your lap and never complains about being petted.

I know I'm a worrier it's me nature. I always put other before myself.
I'm as you know new to sows and suprised to find out some can be raging lesbians or whateva the term is in piggie world. Before anyone gets upset or call the sexual equality people I'm makin light of a subject I'm totally amazed at. . You are right Heidi is boss but she is also 1st for loves and easy pick up. I had Cuddle time with Cocoa last night my 1st since with a piggie at our house since we lost Pedro and I was very emotional but bloody happy. 20171111_182737.webp I felt sorry for Cocoa as one minute she was sleepy, next Heidi was in a full attack of noise squeaking etc and little cocoa trapped in carrot house. It is now as I'm learing part of the course.
I'm at a stage in life that I will never understand the female of the human race . . :hb: I know sometims a box of chocolates or flowers are not enough. Now a days it's a weekend away or New Car :yahoo:.
So let's be honest here how can you expect me a simple country pumpkin to instantly understand how it goes 3 girls in 1 run etc.
I love my girls deeply all 4 of them ( I've included a two legged one in this) and will do anything to protect them care for them etc. So you see if i notice one not happy then I do what I can to make them so.
if that means askin those who know more than I and that covers everyone here then Dopy Dave will do.
So tonight if Heidi or Chloe or Cocoa miss behave then they will receive just the same treat as the others. :lol!:

A lady never reveals her secrets.......
The raving sex beast Heidi is a calmer piggie tho she barged her way through the carrot house at the back obviously couldnt be bothered to turn round.Been the girls best night. Thanks again.. @VickiA This photo taken at 10.pm.20171114_221912.webp All 3 sleepin outside.
I can't remove the old carrot house. The new one next to it is up for sale. lol

My boars had furry beds that they loved, they became saggy and baggy so I decided to replace them. Dozy - the agouti in my avatar who is no longer with us, point blank refused to sleep in the new beds! The were identic, we had a Mexican stand off for a month, at which point I gave up and relented.
