I have two sows in a c&c attached to my single boars c&c (he is not neutered).

This works well as the boar gets company and can chat , see and smell the girls.

Over the weekend, we took in the boar of a friend who couldn’t look after him anymore .
The problem now is housing .

I have split one of the c&c So all four pigs are living side by side but this is just temporary.

The new boar is too young to neuter and will be for a while . I don’t have lots of room in my home but I do have some existing cages I could use if needed .
Can anyone offer some suggestions on housing arrangements so all are happy ?

I was thinking of moving the girls out of the c&c in to a cage to let the boars live permanently side by side but then I won’t have a play area for the girls .

I think the housing depends on what plans you have for the new boar. One option could be to stack the cages. Have the girls on the bottom and the boys on the top and split. That way the girls would be okay and the boars would have each other for company through the bars.

If you moved the girls into a cage, could you set up a play pen around the cage so they have permanent access to floor time?

Unfortunately I won’t have the room to set up permanent floor time , I’d have to swap the girls with one of the boars on a daily rotation .
The problem with that is that the boars would then spend time alone which I don’t want .

Is the cage sat on the floor or elevated? If on the floor, the boars being on their own for floor time could still then interact through the bars. Another thing, if you put the girls in another cage, is there another area in the house that you could put them in for floor time?

Is the new boar going to be neutered and bonded with the girls, or are you going to bond the new boar with your existing boar?

If you are going to bond the new boar with the existing boar, then they need to be away from the girls anyway. Two boars within sight and smell of girls will likely make bonding them very difficult.

With the swapping of floor time and one of the boars being alone, surely this is only going to be for a little while each day/every few days while the other boar is out playing so I can’t see that being a problem at all.

Can you possibly post a photo of your current set up and add a few more details about what extra cages and supplies you have?
This will allow people to get a clearer picture of what you are working with, and make better suggestions.

The question @Piggies&buns asked (and so did I earlier) will also help determine the setup you need.

What if you were to neuter both boars and put one with each girl?
