Hi,

Recently, I've decided that I would like to upgrade my piggies abode. They currently live in a generic pet store cage. (It was the largest one I could find, but it seems cramped for them.) I've been thinking a lot about c&c cages, and have some materials to make one already, but I'm worried that it may not be dog or cat proof. I also have no idea how you would clean one! My family has this large cabinet in our guest room, and I saw some idea on pinterest and thought that it would be a good idea to make their new home out of it. The particular image I saw was pretty much a dresser with some lights, drawers (still intact) and had fleece linings. I figured this would fit perfectly into my room, where i can keep my piggies away from a dog or cat. TI figured I might even be able to find a way to easily remove the 'litter box' area where most of the poo and pee is simply by sliding it out of the cabinet. The only issue with this is that I would like to put 'two floors' of space in the cabinet... And my piggies WILL NOT use a ramp. Their current home has one, and they simply jump onto the second floor, and then jump back down. I have tried encouraging them with treats... but they will never use it on their own. I ended up caving in and lowering the platform for fear of the guineas hurting themselves. For my piggies to get the maximum amount of space in their new home, I wanted to try and use a ramp so there could be a 'whole' second floor rather than a 'balcony'. Any tips? Thank you so much! I'm sorry I write such long messages.

It is great hat you want to upgrade your piggies home.

C&C cages can be made dog and cat proof with the addition of a lid, but this would still not be safe if a large dog were allowed to jump on it (for example).

As for converting a cabinet I think i have seen similar post.
In many cases these look amazing but offer very little space for the piggies and poor ventilation.
If you could post a link to the image of the one you are considering, as well as the dimensions of the cabinet you have, I am sure people will be happy to offer some advice.

As far as ramps go this can be trick.
I have 3 who use ramps and one who simply refuses.
We have tried every tick in the book and Ruby simply does not 'do' ramps.
So I wouldn't build a cage that replies on your piggies using a ramp to access some of the space.
