Hi guys :-)

Not been online for a while but god have I missed the forum!

My two girls have a new home & I'm currently looking into extending my guinea family. I have a couple of questions please, firstly how many guineas is a Max for a 6 by 2 ft hutch? I'm looking at adding a neutered boar and sow ideally just as I think this is the best likely hood for all to get on, do you guys agree?

Thanks
Becky :-)

Thanks :-)

I must measure it as OH keeps saying its 7ft. Just said large hutch when we brought it.

Becky :))

We have measured the hutch over the weekend and its actually 7 by 2, OH was right!

Mario (neutered boar) will be with us soon. I'm just starting the bonding process of two new females with my current two. I put them in the run today for an hour but blocked any direct contact just so they can get used to each others smells etc. I have given the hutch a good clean & again blocked off part and I will leave it like this for a couple of days before a real intro on neutrel ground, **** in the run.

Fingers crossed all will go well and Mario will be accepted soon and I can have my little herd after all :-)

Any advise on what I could be doing to make this intro smoothly then please add.

Thanks
Becky :)

They have been in the run together for abut half an hour now and all has been fine! Not so much as a squeak! Is this too good to be true? Can they go back into their hutch together without the devide now?

Thanks
Becky :-)

The hutch will need a good clean and disinfect, to remove all smells of each set of piggies first, but after that, if there are still no signs of trouble, yes :)

Thats ok, Obviously you will still need to watch them for a while after they go in the hutch. And its usually a good idea to spread the food around abit, so they cant squabble, *ie have small piles of hay dotted around, and scatter veg when it goes in, more than one bowl of pellets etc* :)

This is all from advice ive previously read, I'm not expert! :) But that seems to be the general idea.

They have been in their hutch for just over an hour now. There is def more going on in the hutch. Nothing serious just more running around. I have been going out every 10 mins to check on them and I'm just on my way out again. I have scattered veg over the hutch floor which was gone in seconds lol. Guess they didn't want to miss out?

I'm slightly worried about leaving them overnight, if they were going to have any serious issues would this have happened by now?

Thanks for any advise
Becky :-)

They were fine! I think Jerry is going to be the dominant one (black & brown). I did think one was being left out slightly but I didn't notice it so much this morning so I will just have to keep an eye out.

I have pictures that I took last night, I will try & get them uploaded tonight :-)

I will get some better ones once they have settled x)

Just realised as one of the guineas face is all black it only looks like there is 2 in the tunnel lol

They have settled in just fine thanks ;-)

Mario arrived today & I put him straight in with my girls, so far so good!

I will post better pics of my lil herd once they have had chance to settle
