Hey guys, its been awhile. After the passing of Trixie I didn't really feel like coming onto the Guinea Pig forum and seeing everyone with there Guinea Pigs so I stayed clear. I feel better now and I'm actually doing better than I thought I would be, I think mostly because of how Amber has been.

At first I got her out everyday and she would sit on my lap and sleep while watching TV. I would also put her in her run but sit in there with her because I couldn't bare to see her all alone in such a massive run. Now though its gone back to normal how it was before, I give her floor time once a week while I'm cleaning out her cage and also give her cuddles and grooming/nail clipping then too. Then I'll either sit and stroke her in her cage or get her out and just have a little cuddle a few times a week and that's how it was before.

Amber in herself seems to be fine.. I had thought of getting her a friend but she doesn't seem to have changed or become depressed or anything. If anything shes actually happier? Now this could be because Trixie was the more dominant and took the line share of the food and best sleeping areas so now Amber's thinking oh wow look at all this food and space, that's what i thought at first... But now its been a few months and she's still her squeaky happy self. So I've come to the decision based on Amber's behavior that I'm going to keep her as a single guinea pig. Now I know people are going to be all 'you shouldn't keep a single guinea pig on her own and just because she doesn't seem depressed doesn't mean she is etc etc' but i know Amber, and nothing, nothing at all in her behavior and I've watched her for awhile shows shes lonely.
I would like peoples opinions though on this subject and people story's. Have any of you found that sometimes they are okay on there own after the loss of their friend/sister?

Here are a few pictures of her anyway :) :

Welcome back. I am pleased you are both doing well. Personally I would still get her a friend. Going to a rescue were she can choose her own friend is ideal. I understand you saying she seems happy though.

Yeah, I think I might take her along to a rescue anyway, I mean even if she doesn't hit it off with anyone at least she would have had some guinea pig contact. Thank you for your advice :) I will defiantly contact a few rescues see if they have anything suitable.
